FIFTEEN

Haylee POV:

I wake up, slip on the basic grey pants and grey top, open my door when I hear the morning bell, there are no lights down here so how would I know what time it really is?

I walk down the hall past the doors and other girls emerge from the coloured doors, like a synchronised dance we walk into the dining hall and line up for a disgusting meal, except this is a boring dance that happens every day and no one likes it. At all.

I have been in this horrible place for a long time, I would say years but I can't remember how long it really has been.

I am thankful that all I do is work in a sweat shop and I don't get taken away like some of the other girls. I once had this friend, possibly my only friend I had... she was very pretty, they took her away and she got used for sex, she came back in tears, her wrists were covered in slits ever since, till one day she cut pretty deep and never came out of her door in the morning.her door was green, I often pass her one but there is a new girl in there now.

Many other girls have been used for sex but most don't get brought back.

I miss my sister Lana, and I hate the Devainians so does she and I know she is going to come save me one day.

I am not dying in here.

LanaPOV:

I have my big pack filled with dry clothes my toothbrush and some sacred toothpaste, a few snacks that I still have saved from when I first arrived, lots of deer jerky from Sev, and my gun, and a knife that Terri actually gave me surprisingly.

I have bottled water attached to Honeys saddle, and I am just about ready to get on her when Ben asks "how old are you Jay?", I wonder for a moment "what month is it?", I ask "march the 2nd", he replies. I think for a bit, my birthday is in a couple of weeks "I'm almost 16....", I say more to myself quietly in wonder, Iv never had a birthday without my family. "Well a 15 year old girl going on an errand to the city needs to be careful, if anyone catches you do not tell them about the Nest, be very careful there are some horrible men out there...I wish I could send Seven with you but winter is on it's way and we need all the meat we can get", he says then passing me a little spray can "I know it sounds silly but pepper spray is an amazing thing...Ellie always had it on her when she went out there", he says.

Once I have thankfully packed away all the last bits that people have given me I turn to Seven "you are coming back", he says with a hint of question in his voice, "yes I will be no longer than 7 days, but probably a lot earlier if all works out", I say trying to stay positive.
He looks at me sadly, I step forward and wrap my arms around him and squeeze tight, I go to pull away but he is still holding on for an extra second. I turn to Mia and give her a quick hug and pat Jimmie on the head " look after my boy for me won't you", I say too her "you know I will and I'll water your garden and check your car hasn't been touched twice a day", she giggles on replaying all the instructions I gave her.

I am on Honey and the sun is setting, "goodbye everyone", I say and they all say goodbye back to me shouting all the little things they told me to get like Zepp wanted a Moro bar and Sam wanted a waffle, then Somone says something about a double cheeseburger, I laugh to my self and head up the hill.

Seven is still with me and we get to the top of the hill by the junk pile, we go through the gap in the mound of junk and through everything until we reach the other side. We walk and talk but not much until we reach the river, he takes me down to a shallow area "so this is it this is the place... we met here just two months ago", he trails off laughing, I look at him hoping I do see him again.

"Well I'm going to meet you here again", I say to him and he looks up at me patting Honey "well I will be waiting for you every morning until the sun rises", he smiles.
Seven grabs my hand looks me in the eye "please be careful", then let's my hand go and stands back, I ride through the river to the other side and it's so dark that I can't see Seven anymore.

I have been trotting for about 20miniuts and I am at the Gum tree forest at the edge of the tree line, maybe another 20 minutes to the right and there would be the cave but tonight I'm not going there.

I look to my left straight ahead then right, is it just the river or do I hear something?
I am starting to worry, I back Honey up away from the tree line and wait, I can hear twigs cracking my heart picks up and I reach for my knife.

"You weren't going to leave without telling me were you?", I hear a cheeky voice say "Dalton what the hell are you doing here", I say as he trots towards me " oh and you're not the only one with a horse".
I feel very shocked, he is on a black horse or maybe just dark brown I can't tell it's too dark, the horse has white around its ankles and on it's forehead.

"Okay?", I am still very confused, "I may not be able to look after your sister but I'll make sure you are safe too", he says "what do you know about my sister?", I ask feeling frustrated "that we need to save her", he replies and rides ahead of me. "Where are you going?!", I demand "wherever I wish too sweetheart I  nothing and so are you, there are no laws for me I have been thrown away like all of you people at the Nest", he says and I catch up to him ridding alongside.

"What's the horses name?", I ask not bothering to control him because there is no way I could "HER name is Lexi", he says emphasising her gender "oh that's a cute name", I say with a giggle "you are a cute name", he says back at me.

I am glad it's dark because Dalton keeps saying things that are either embarrassing me or flirting with me in a teasing way and my cheeks are burning red.

We get to the highway and gallop down it as fast as we can until we get to a feild and duck away onto it and trot down a path, we take a hidden detour across farmland and orchards until we get to the edge of the city.

"I want to see my parents", I blurt out loud "no.no.no! You can't possibly start thinking that you know how stupid that is, they could get in trouble for hosting an outcasted person you know", he says abruptly.
"Of course I know that", I bite back "it's just...I miss them", I say and he looks at me sadly "I know you do, so do I".

We are at the back of an apple orchard in some native bush and we tie up our mares "we do need to go here I say", he nods "who are we meeting here?", he asks.
I look up and down the rows of trees and whisper "Ellie's mother", "oh", Dalton replies.

We scurry across the grass and knock on wooden door to a big dark house, we wait but no one answers for a long time.

Then a light turns on and hope sparks inside of me, a door creaks open and a woman whispers "who's there", i pause and look across at Dalton who as as scared as I am "I know your daughter".

That was enough for her to pull the door open and let us in then she quickly locks it.

She leads us down into a room not saying too
Much then lifts a floor board to a trap door and climbs in gesturing for us too follow. She turns on a light so that we can see her face, she has blue eyes and a few wrinkles, blond hair with the odd silver strand and a very beautiful symmetric shaped face.

"Is my daughter alive?", she asks "I don't know", I say and looks over at Dalton who is silent "but we need your help to show us a kauri tree around here with a box buried in it, we need your help to save this country".

Yay Lana has started her mission
I promise all the secrets of Dalton will be revealed eventually
