Dalton POV:

I was brought into this world by parents that worshiped a bad cause, I was born one of them, I was born.

My mother made me obviously,so I must have been about 4 years old when my father was ordered to steal the golden child, take her away and put her into a normal family, and I was meant to make sure that girl never got back into the royalty. The princess of the dead king and queen. I don't like the reason my mother made me, to fulfill the dreams of the Devainians queen, too keep the Princess away, but now we have lost her, and they all hate me so I had to run away and outcast myself.

They all hate me...I think I hate me too, but I pledge to look after this girl until the day I die because I know that the Devainians would love to get their hands around her. I won't let that happen.

We are out the back of the house digging up a box from under the large Kauri tree, Ellie's mother is standing nervously watching while Lana is digging. Watching Lanas hands shake as she pulls at loose dirt is making nervous so I get down and help her with the last bit.

We get the box and open it then and there, all it has on it is a drawing of a clock tower, Lana looks up at me for help but I have no idea what it means either. We sit there waiting "you kids should go now", says Ellie's mum "yeah good point, and thank you we will help you find your daughter if she is still out there",I say and she passes us a red polka dot bag then quickly leaves.

We sprint back to the horses who are hidden away and open the bag, Lana smiles at me and I can feel myself grinning back. She reaches in and pulls out a delicious looking banana and chocolate chip muffin, we munch away as we study the piece of paper. "Turn it over", I say curiously , on the other side is a piece of masking tape that seems to be holding the paper together where it has a tear,I look away in though.

I turn back and she is lightly tearing away the masking tape "what are you doing Lana!", I whisper harshly as she is tearing the papers rip open even more, but she keeps going without saying anything. "Shine the torch", she says and I get her dim little solar torch and hover it above the page that now reveals a rip that Ellie must have made and then fixed with masking tape. "There is nothing ther-", I pause and study the inner piece of the masking tape, the sticky side, it has something written on it.

"Um..where the clockwork rumbles...um..", she tilts the tape "the tides turn and tumble", she reads aloud, we sit and think for a bit "tides turn and tumble?", I query "could it possibly be the clock tower next to the old warehouse?", she asks and that sparks an idea into my head "tides turn is a pub that hasn't Been open for years", I say, we sit and think.

---------------------------------------------------

We ride our horses around the cities edge so that we go as un noticed as possible, we are now on the East side of the city and we tie Honey and Lexi up under a bridge by some trees.

We walk silently across the streets up dark alleyways being quick on our feet if we see movement, Lana seems to know the best route seeing as she had lived here her whole life, we get to a brick wall and I start to think maybe she hadn't planned it out as well as I thought.

But then she climbs up a ladder that is attached to a building as a fire escape, then climbed onto the wall hanging her legs over the other side and smoothly landing. I do the same maybe not as smoothly "I didn't know you did ninja training", I say "I know right I'm the whole package", she smirks into the darkness all up about herself, it's okay because I would have done the same.

We get to the old pub and look inside, it looks creepy and like a place no one would want to be, we then move on to the clock tower. "How the hell do we get up into the clock tower base where they care for the cogs?", I ask and she pulls out the drawing from Ellie and points to a little red circle. I look at her shocked "are you trying to tell me we have to climb three stories high and then fit through these bars just to sneak into a clock tower that may or may not even help us", I ask with tension in my voice, she nods.

I sigh as we head over "should I go first or you?", she asks "well if you fall ill catch you, but if I fell I'd fall onto you and we would both die, so you first", she looks up at me and gives me tight squeeze and whispers "thankyou" into my ear. I wish I really could help her truely, for all the pain my people have caused her.

We are climbing up a wall that has three Little gaps in between where there are window sills with bars around them protect the windows, our goal is to use this metal pipe going along side the wall to help climb to each window, each point.

The window are there for people during the day to walk up the steps inside the clock tower for three stories high and look out the windows, then the last one has a room in it and above that room is a platform that apparently leads to a higher room that is where the clockwork is taken care of.

We are just nearing the second window, I wait for Lana to hold on until I get onto it too, I have to put my arm around her to have a place to hold so it puts us very close close together, I can hear her breathing. "Don't looks down", I tease her "I am afraid of heights", she says to me, well then why the hell is she doing this I think and to answer my question she says "but I'm more afraid of the Devainians taking over and stealing everything from this country".

She starts climbing again, I feel sad, I feel like I really do hate myself, from this day on ward I will do anything for this girl.

We get to the last one and she climbs over the railing so fast that she slips letting out a squeal. I wrap my right arm around her as she slides down the bars and pull her up, one arm on her and one on the bars, I feel strong but I also feel like I can't hold it for too much longer, I launch her up and onto the top railing where she had tried to climb onto, and climb up to her.

We are now standing on top of the third story in an empty hollow part with a flat roof above us. Lana wraps her arms around my waist I can feel her heart pounding, she pulls away and I touch her face, it covered in tears, I only just notice how terrified she is. I bring her closer to me and wrap my arms around her petite body, "I'm so sorry", I say to her "it's not your fault", she replies.

But it really is.
she pushes herself deeper into my arms and cries.
