Mias POV:It is so early in the morning but I'm up and ready to start my day, I do the usual head down to the fire pit at 5am before anyone except the hunters are awake because I like quiet time, there is usually one of the fire boys (what I like to call them) today there's Malcom he is always so good to talk too.
I pull out my pot and pour some fresh milk into it and stir a tea spoon of honey in aswell...maybe another teaspoon just for good luck. I do this every morning telling myself I won't have too much but I love honey, it makes life just that little bit sweeter. Once it's boiling I pour it into two wooden cups and pass one to Malcom, we talk, I absolutely love his company because he is so respectful and sometimes we don't even need to be talking to enjoy each other's presents.
"Ahhh Jay is a nice girl I hope she ends up okay", Malcom says, the thought of her makes me happy inside, I may have only met her 2 months ago but I feel like she could be my girl bestie, you get me? Iv always wanted someone like that, before I got outcast I was always a shy person and no body really talked to me but when I came to the nest I knew that no body would know me and I could start fresh to be who ever I want to.
I would consider myself a happy person I guess because I know all these terrible things are happening to my world but I also know it is not something I am in the position to fix...Jay maybe. So I take every day as it comes and when I'm down I go and give my animals a snuggle or talk to Chimp. Ahh Chimp I can't help but feel warm inside when I am around him, he has been working around me for the past year and I start to wonder weather I just like him like a friend or not.
You see ever since Jay came I have had a girly to talk too, I mean me and Bella get along pretty well too but I really like Jay she understands my crazyness, so does Chimp...maybe Chimp is my best friend...or maybe I have a chrush on him. Being a lot younger around here can suck because older people act more superior, but Chimp always treats me the same. I am actually 14 turning 15 super soon, Jay and I apparently have similar birth dates except she is a year older, when I turn 15 Chimp will be on his way to 17...maybe he likes me too, I'm not sure but age shouldn't get in the way should it?
Speaking of Chimp I am meant to meet him once the sun is fully up so I better get a move on, I pack up my breakfast gear, say goodye to Malcom and head to the barn with Mini and Jimmie. I pull out some bones for the two to munch on while I feed the chickens "morning beautiful", it's Chimp he comes walking up and throws some feed into the hens and leans against the fence sipping at a coffee, his usual look. He always calls me beautiful but I'm not sure what to think of it because I'm not good at situations where I like people, so I just smile up at him and carry on.
I shut the latch and move onto the watering system, I bring out the big container and Chimp takes it down to the stream to fill, luckily seeing as wee care form the animals our post is right by the stream.
He comes back with the big bucket in his arms, he has big forearms which I thinks is pretty cool, what girl wouldn't?
I like his short brown hair that sticks up at the front...not only because I cut it myself but it suits him I think, I like his dark brown eyes that pop out on his light almost olive skin tone.
He always has his collection of rope knotted bracelets and shell bracelets, and that bone carved turtle that he always wears around his neck without fail.We put the bucket back into the coop and I scoop out a couple of cups for the mother chook and her babies in a separate little house for them.
-----------------------------------------------
Its 6 o'clock and I am just doing my last little bits like shutting the coops and securing the fences, I go up to Macy our dairy cow and fill up my jug a little for my morning drink. I go and get my basket put two eggs in it along with my milk, Chimp has already brought our days produce up to the trading desk and brought me back two tockens, we had a pretty successful day food wise I think.
I am at the trading desk wondering what I would like, I pull out one shinning token and place it on the table, "half and onion and a small bag of salt will do me",I say thinking about the delicious scrambled eggs that I will be devouring tomorrow morning "sure thing Mia", says Ledi the trading manager. he also throws in three cherry tomatoes seeing as they are growing wild lately, I place it all in my basket and head home.
My hut is quite on the edge of the village close to the animals and stream, the edge of the village furthest away from Jay sadly. I head into my hut, the walls are all split logs in a little square with a wooden bed and a little fire pit on the open side, I have an animal skin that I got given to me that I hang above invade the rain comes down, Chimps hut is very similar of course he helped me build mine.
I have a small shelf in the corner where I place my jar of milk and put the tomatoes in a small bowl then think again and stuff one in my mouth. I get my basket with food and hang it on a hook so that animals can't get it, I slip on a long pair of baggy hippie type pants that have possum fleece on the inside, I sling on a comfy cropped top and wrap a cardigan round. I like being able to help people by giving them eggs and milk because when you give people things you get things back like this cardigan that Lacey knitted for me after I have her all the sheep wool from the whole season.
I start to think about dinner, what do I feel like? I pull out some bones tell the dogs to sit and then let them eat, I sit there and watch them chewing on the leftover tomato seeds. I hear a knock and pull back my draping sheet to see Chimp in his torn shorts and black merino shirt, he has his sleeves rolled up, it must be getting cold for him to be wearing thermals.
"Dinner?", he questions me "what were you thinking?", I ask back I love how he always has something planed when he comes to me so we don't have to do that awkward discussion thing. "Well the sun is almost setting on the hills and I know a perfect spot and I have some perfect food for a perfect girl", he grins, I blush a giggle leading him out of my hut "sounds perfect", I smile up at him.
Just a cute wee chapter on Mias bubbly, confusing young teenage life.
