Let It Burn - NaNoWriMo14

Chapter 1

Trailer to the right, thanks to Moonshadow16. Hey, so in honour of the movie Frozen I thought I'd create this little FanFic about what would happen if Elsa had a twin who could control fire.

Also, I know that in Frozen the kingdom is called Arendelle, but due to copyright, I have deliberately spelled it as Erendelle :)

Prologue

Erendelle. The place she had once called home.

Erendelle. The place she was destined to rule.

Erendelle. The place from which she was exiled but vowed one day to return to.

Back when the world was new she lived in the castle of Erendelle with her parents the King and Queen and her twin sister Elsa. Those were the days when everything was perfect and nothing could have possibly disturbed the peace of the kingdom.

For years that remained true until the twins turned seven years old. During an argument Elsa clenched her fist and when she went to shove Ayla, ice shot out of her fingertips but to both of their surprise the ice melted before it could hit Ayla. Both girls looked at their hands in horror and amazement. Snowflakes floated above Elsa’s hand while a flame danced within Ayla’s palm. Their earlier quarrel forgotten as they raced along the corridor to the throne room where they knew their parents would be.

‘Mama, papa, look at this’ the girls screeched as they burst into the room only to be stopped in their tracks when they saw a small crowd of people who turned and bowed their heads in respect ‘girls what’s wrong?’ Queen Reva rose from her throne and made her way over to her daughters. ‘Erm, well we wanted to show you something but we’ll just show you later’ Ayla glanced around the room at all of the people looking at her and Elsa ‘come on, you can show me’ the Queen smiled but Elsa and Ayla just stared worriedly at each other before shaking their heads. ‘My Lady Queen, we must continue with the meeting for the boats shall be arriving shortly’ Lord Undvor noted to which the Queen rose to her feet and nodded her head.

The twins sighed in relief ‘you can show me what you wanted to later’ Queen Reva mentioned as she resumed her seat beside her husband. With a swift nod of the head and curtsey the twins bolted from the room and outside so that they could play with their newly found powers.

Hours passed and the sun began to set over Erendelle, the colours bathed the kingdom in a warm orange glow as the twins sat on the grass admiring the view. ‘Princess Ayla… Princess Elsa… it’s time to come inside’ a maid appeared at the door to the garden, the twins hurried inside ‘your mother wishes to see you shortly’ the maid mentioned as she led them both into another room to await the arrival of Queen Reva. Within a few moments the Queen entered the room and gazed lovingly at her daughters, ‘now then why don’t you show me whatever it was that you wanted to show me earlier’ she crouched so that she was the same height as the girls.

Ayla smiled and opened up her clenched fist to reveal a fire ball, Queen Reva stared in astonishment at the glowing orb ‘how are you doing that?’ Ayla simply grinned even more and ignited the other hand but she quickly lost control and one of the fireballs flew through the air and landed on the curtains. Before any damage could be done Elsa threw an ice ball at the flames to extinguish them. Queen Reva covered her gaping mouth with her hand ‘how is this possible?’ she whispered in horror as she stared at the scorched curtain.
