Chapter 7

Ayla smiled to herself as she threaded her green ribbon through her hair then gazed into the mirror at her wearing the coronation dress but she couldn’t admire it for long since she could hear the trumpets sounding to mark the approaching start of the ceremony. So she quickly rushed out of her room and down the corridor to the top of the staircase where Elsa was already standing ‘hey’ she smiled, ‘hi, you ready?’ Ayla asked ‘as I’ll ever be’ Elsa replied breathing deeply as Ayla gazed down the stairs to the closed double doors leading to the great hall where the coronation ceremony was to take place.

Both girls listened carefully as King Enver welcomed the citizens of Erendelle to the ceremony. But all too soon there was a fanfare of trumpets so both Elsa and Ayla made their way down the staircase, through the double doors and into the room. With sophistication and elegance the two of them walked side by side up the aisle towards their father, both stopped just before him and bowed their heads in a sign of respect which he returned.

‘Princess Elsa of Erendelle, please step forward’ the Archbishop mentioned, so Elsa took a shaky step forward before the Archbishop read out the oath for her to repeat, she did so with a strong voice that only cracked once due to nerves but she quickly recomposed herself.

As the ceremony continued Ayla began to get impatient for it to be her turn, although when the Archbishop raised the crown above Elsa’s head she realised her mistake. It wasn’t her that was to be crowned Queen it was Elsa. Rage coursed through her veins, she thought that King Enver would choose her but no he had to choose her sister. The sister who lived her life in fear. Ayla didn’t fear her powers, she welcomed them with open arms so she was able to live her life like any other person.

Ayla could feel the room heating up as her rage grew, her eyes fixed on Elsa as she turned around holding the sceptre and the sovereigns orb. Without thinking Ayla made them heat up so much that they began to glow, Elsa calmly put them back down on the pillow and turned back to look at her sister but she had fled the room leaving fire in her wake. King Enver nodded at Elsa before he rushed out of the room to look for his daughter, Elsa continued the coronation but couldn’t help the guilt that washed over her as the image of Ayla with pure hate in her eyes continued to play in her head.

Meanwhile outside Lord Enver (formerly King) managed to find Ayla in front of the weeping willow tree, ‘Ayla, what are you doing out here’ he asked as he made his way over to her. Her head snapped towards him ‘why didn’t you tell me’ she hissed in response, although Lord Enver just looked at her in confusion ‘why didn’t you tell me you had decided that Elsa was to be crowned Queen. You made me look like a fool’ Ayla rose to her feet so that she was almost the same height as her father. ‘Elsa knows the traditions of the Kingdom and the role of being Queen; you’re not sophisticated enough to act like a Queen let alone run a Kingdom. I thought that you would have guessed that I would have chosen her from the beginning’ Enver rested his hand on Ayla’s shoulder but she ignited her shoulder making him yank his hand away.

‘So basically I’m immature and I’ll never be Queen despite the fact most of the Kingdom wanted me as their ruler. Well just remember this papa… I will never give up. One way or another I will be Queen of Erendelle’ and with that she turned her head and stared at the weeping willow which soon turned into a blazing waterfall of leaves and branches. Enver looked on horrified but Ayla didn’t stop, everything she looked at ignited until finally the entire garden was engulfed in flames.

A smirk tugged at the corners of Ayla’s mouth as she gazed out at her creation until she heard a loud *thunk* before everything went black as she hit the floor.
