Chapter 18

‘Girls you need to stop all of this quarrelling the last thing your father saw was the two of you at each other’s throats all for the sake of becoming Queen of Erendelle, is that title really worth all of this heartbreak? If you continue on this path then you both will kill each other, you’re half way there as it is. Ayla the ice in your heart can only be removed by Elsa, and Elsa the burning embers in your eyes can only be removed by Ayla. But Elsa you have no control over your emotions which your magic is generated from so you could kill Ayla if you tried. Ayla you no longer love Elsa so if you tried to remove the embers it would turn her straight to hardened molten lava’ Doctor Loberg explained thoroughly to the girls who were both looking at the floor in sadness.

‘Now I’ll ask again, is the title of Queen of Erendelle really that important?’ Doctor Loberg enquired glancing over at Ayla who slowly lifted her head to meet his eyes ‘to me it is that important. I have never wanted anything more than to be Queen of Erendelle’ Ayla whispered. ‘But you’re too naïve and carefree to run a kingdom that’s why Lord Enver chose Elsa to be crowned’ Doctor Loberg mentioned gently, ‘I know, but Elsa lives in fear of her powers instead of learning how to control them and use them for good and that stops her from interacting with the townsfolk’ Ayla noted sadly glancing over at her sister. Elsa moved quickly to stand beside Ayla, ‘I love you more than anything Ayla and if the title of Queen really does mean that much to you I’ll step down and give it to you’ Elsa insisted staring straight into Ayla’s amber coloured eyes that held such longing for the title.

A single tear slid over Ayla’s face before she threw her arms around Elsa’s neck hugging her tightly. As Ayla pressed her cheek against Elsa’s the tear soaked into Elsa’s skin causing her to pull away when she felt a burning sensation coming from the area where the tear had soaked in. Her face began to glow a yellow orange colour but it was contorted in agony as the embers burnt their way back out of Elsa’s eyes. ‘The embers… they’re gone’ Elsa exclaimed happily touching her eyes, a genuine smile pulled its way onto Ayla’s lips as she watched Elsa.

That is until a shiver crept over her. Followed by a sharp pain in the centre of her chest. She clutched it tightly as she fought for breath before falling to her knees. Elsa dropped to her knees beside her and placed her arm around Ayla’s back ‘what’s happening’ she cried at the doctor. ‘You froze her heart Elsa. Unless you can control your emotions you can’t control your magic so you can’t save your sisters life’ he said simply but full of sympathy. ‘No I won’t lose you, mama and papa all in the same week. I refuse’ Elsa screamed as she conjured up all her powers and placed her hand over Ayla’s heart to try and extract the ice from deep within the beating organ.
