"I don't understand, Jadis and I used to be friends." I say, watching the cold woman being carried into our camp.
"You've been gone for a long time, things have changed." Gallagher answers.
"Come on, before she sees us and then she really gets angry." I say, jumping to the next branch.
"Agreed." He answers, changing into his bird for and fluttering along beside me.
"Look, she's talking with our father." I say, gesturing towards the tent.
We freeze when we hear our names. We are being summoned.
"Gal, I don't think this is a good idea." I say, dropping to the ground and straightening my jerkin.
"Hush. Don't speak unless necessary." He says, dusting dirt from my shoulder.
"Your hair." I comment, picking a leaf from it.
We enter the tent together, eyes trained on the ground, like last time we were summoned here.
"They are still young." Jadis comments.
"My children are old enough to have a say in these matters." Aslan counters.
"Are they, Aslan?" She asks. It is a rhetorical question.
"Come, Prince and Princess. You are no longer children and it is time I stopped treating you as such." He says.
"Father, we have no place in this argument. We were but young children last time we laid eyes on either party. Let us bade this conflict unethical for us to interfere with." Gallagher says regally.
"Someone practiced their court speech." I mumble under my breath.
He elbows me in the side, telling me to hush.
"Very well, leave our presence. Command the camp as you please." Aslan says, sighing.
Gallagher bows to our father, and I curtsy, then he grabs my elbow and steers me out of the tent.
"I have a horrible feeling about this." I say to him under my breath as we walk up camp.
"I know." He answers.
