ZACHARY DEIGHTON

"Sir, Mr. Bennett Kushner requests to meet you." My secretary informs me of the buzzer. I stopped typing, furrowing my brows, "Send him in." I replied.

I quickly typed my reply to Mr. McQueen, who is an investor of our company.

'-your wish my command, sir. I will ask my secretary to arrange our meeting as soon as possible.'

There was a knock on my door before Bennett welcomed himself.
"This is making me more curious, first a request then a knock? Since when do you need permission to meet me?" I asked.

Bennett Kushner is my childhood buddy, who so happened to be Alexia, my little sister's two-year boyfriend. When I got to know about them, let's say Ben never looked that handsome ever before.

"Come on mate, can't I just come to see you, and moreover I was nearby." He said as he sat on the visitor's chair.

"Your estate is round the corner and plus you were going to see me tonight at New year's eve party." I informed him, not buying his excuse.

He laughed nervously and looked everywhere but at me. "What is it, Ben?" I asked him.

"Zac, there is something important I have to talk to you about." He said.

"I'm all ears."

After thirty minutes of Ben sugarcoating and finally coming to the point. I took a minute to reply.

"I see. You say my parents gave their blessings?" I asked Ben when he was done speaking with a stern look, to which he nodded. "And now you need mine?" I rubbed my finger down my chin. I stood up from my chair and round the table. He jumped on his feet.

"Zac I know-"
I patted his back, "Alright." I told him. Bennett and Alexia are one of the compatible couple I have known. And there is no point being hard on him when I know how deeply and utterly he feels for Alexia.

"Alright?"
"I give you my blessing. Just don't forget our talk." I reminded him of my brotherly duty when or if he ever hurt Lexi.

"YES!" He surprisingly hugged me.
"Thank you! Thank you very much."

"Yeah, okay whatever." I shrugged his arm off me.

"By the way, when are you planning to do it," I asked him once he composed himself.

"Tonight."

"What if she says no?" Ben asked what seems to be like the hundredth time in an hour.

I came to my parent's house hours ago, as mom can't stop whining about how less she sees me since I took over the family company. And want to catch up.

But so far all I get to catch was dozen of suitable bachelorette names my mother being introducing me to throughout the party.

Now I regret not getting plus one for myself. Then there would have been one to handle. But knowing my mom, she would have been booking Church for wedding, if not searching names of her grandchildren.

"Good thing you can always pass the ring to one of the dozen ladies, my mother had invited." I said half-jokingly.

"Shut up! You know I will never do that to Lexi." He said.

"You better not," I warned him.

"What are you waiting for? Propose her, already."

He takes in few deep breaths, "Alright. Can you bring her near the treehouse, where we used to play as a kid."
