Hera McQueen

"Did you settled well in your new office?" Zach asked after a few minutes of silence in the car.

"Yes, I did." I replied, my office room is nearly double the size I would have gotten downstairs. It is also connected with my assistant room and a private washroom. And Zach's office happens to be in the opposite wing.

"Hopefully we are not intruding on your space," I said.

"You are not. It couldn't have been better to share the floor with anyone but you," he said in a cool tone.

"And, fortunately, we both are starting on our next step of a career." He said. Right now looking at him doesn't feel like sitting with the person whom I imagined him to be. He is not a narcissist, rude person who wouldn't give a fuck to anyone; but a genuine person.

"Let's have a toast on it."

"We are in the car, we don't- never mind." Zachary took out the bottle of fine wine and two flute glasses from the cabin under his seat.
"This would work for now." He said and placed the glass on the armrest.

"What else do you got under these seats?" I asked.

"Many things you could ever imagine." He said and pour the red color drink into the glass.

"Like what? A gun?"

He gave me a sly smile and passed me the glass.

"For the next step"

"For the next step."

The rest of the ride was filled with small talk. We were almost at our venue.

"You are different, Hera," Zach said.

"How is that?" I asked. He moved closer to my body.

"If there was anyone else on your place, I would be using my mouth on the next best thing than talking." He said with a smirk.

He had to ruin it.

I pushed his arm away, "Thanks for telling me that I'm not your type." I mock hurt.
He took hold of my hand mid-air, "That's the thing. You are exactly what my type should be. And that's scary, I'm not used to a woman like you." My breath hitched at his comment. Silence surrounded us, his green eyes were flickering from my eyes to lips.

The door of his side opened, breaking us from our trace, flashes and noises filled the space.

Third Person

The ballroom was beautifully decorated with a red-gold theme and was brightly illuminated. The guest is being escorted by the event team. Roger with his wife Maria, was settled to their assigned seat.
"I believe you now," Roger said to the person sitting across the table.

"I told you," Richard said with a smirk on his face.
Both their wife Maria and Liza were looking at them confused.

"What are you talking about honey?" Maria asked Roger.
"It's nothing-"

"Maria, Roger couldn't believe I have stepped down from CEO post when I told him about it." Richard cut in.

"Not only that, but you also said that your son Zachary would bring a date and that would happen to be my Hera." Roger counter, "So far I haven't seen that."

Liza gasp. "You men! Why on earth you thought that you can play matchmaker for my son without keeping me in a loop."

"Don't worry darling. I handled it well, see who is making their entry."
