Hera McQueen

"Yes, I want to know what the fuss is all about Zachary Deighton, ladies can't shut up about."

'Knock it off, Hera. You are going to burn yourself here.'  my sane side of the brain said.

I lean a little and placed my chin on his shoulder. "Must be your charm." I wiggle a teasing smile. The reason I gave is nothing near to what I have in mind. Back at the apartment, I felt different under his lustrous green eyes. I have never felt like that ever before, it makes me feel...wanted? Whatever it is, I want to explore.

His arm circled around my hip, pulling me closer, "Why don't we check that theory?"

I tried to cover my shock at his question. For truth, I was half expecting him to laugh at my silly game.

Someone cleared their throat, bringing us out of our bubble. "I hope I am not interrupting anything important."

I turned around to meet eerily gray eyes. The man standing in front of us was tall by 6'2'', dirty blonde hair which were neatly combed back and was easy on the eyes with sharp jawlines and dazzling smile. He was wearing a well-tailored blue suit.

"No, not at all." I replied.

"I believe we haven't met. I'm Nicholas Thomson." He extended his hand for a shake, "I am the one-"

"-who bid one million dollor on me." I completed his sentence and shook his hand.

"I was about to say, who got an honor to go on a date with you, but yeah." He laughed. He has a vibe that instantly connects with you but at the same time intimidate you, that you wish to stay miles away from him.

"I'm intrigued to know what made you bid one million on me?" I asked, I'm dying to know what a sane person would go to that extent.

"Wouldn't you like to know?" He smirks without giving any further explanation, which hickes my curiosity. His eyes past my shoulder to Zach who was stiffly standing behind me.

"Fancy seeing you here, Zachary. Its been what, two years since we last met." Nicholas extended his hand for a shake.

"Two years six months to be exact." Zac replied curtly and shook his hand. I could feel some tension between these two. Zac's body was stiff and kept a hard eye on him. Something must have seriously gone down between these two. I have never seen Zac losing his cool so easily.

Nicholas averted his eye contact from him and towards me, "Would you join me for a drink?" He extended his palm and looked at me with a confident smile.

I turned to look at Zachary who still had a fierce expression and I don't want to leave him here like that. I was about to turn down the offer, but Zac beat me to it and gave another curt nod before retreating his steps towards the main hall.

I faced Nicholas and shrugged, "Lead the way." I place my hand in his.

We danced and talked throughout the evening. Nicholas is a smooth talker and could easily blend with groups. We were joined by Lexi and Megan at one point. To say Lexi was shocked to see him and again she seemed little hostile towards him.

As for Zachary, he was also mingling with groups, several times I have caught him stealing glances our side but we never crossed the same group. It was eleven when everyone made their way out.

"Have you added the pre-wedding shoot at your calendar?" Megan asked as she, Lexi, and I wait at the foyer.

"What kind of made of honor do you think I am? Of course, I have." I replied. I am sacrificing my tomorrow to meet up with the wedding planner and choreographer to discuss details about the shoot. "I am meeting them tomorrow, even though I have no clue what is trending nowadays."
