Hera McQueen

"Hello?"

"Hey Hera!" a familiar voice came through the speaker of my office phone, "This is Alexia Deighton. I got this number from Zack."

"Oh! Hey Lexi, how are you?" I stopped typing the notes and picked up the receiver.

"I'm doing great, I was wondering if you are free to join us for dinner at seven." she said.

"us?"

"Yes, do you remember Megan from school? Basketball team?"

"Marshall? Yes, of course!"

"She is in town too, I was hoping to have all team catch-up like ol' days," she said. I thought for a second before I could give her a reply, checking with my schedule which was filled with pro-bono and case studies. I sighed.

"I'm in. Text me the address I would be there by that time." I replied, feeling nostalgic.

"Awesome! I will, and by the way, I have to ask you something important but we will discuss that at dinner . See ya then."

Before I could ask what, she hung up.

At school graduation, there are three kinds of people, One who wants to keep every memory of school and stay in touch with their friends.
Second, who is 'what school?' but up for every reunion party.
And third, who didn't give a shit about either of those.

Being true to myself, I come under the third category. But sometimes situations and circumstances find its way to change all that.

"Miss McQueen? Oliver Jones is here." Tristan informed, standing at the doorway with a tablet in his hand.

"Make him comfortable in room A, I will be there shortly. Thanks!"

I pulled out Mr. Jone's file. This is one of the pro-bono cases, I was assigned. The case is of intellectual property, as the party claim to invent an alternative device for children with disabilities, but before he could patent it MNC Rockwood introduce it to the world.

"Hello Mr. Jones, I'm Hera McQueen." I shook his hand as I entered the meeting room. "I will be handling your case."

"Miss McQueen! It's a pleasure to meet you." he stood up from his seat, "Thank you for taking my case."
Oliver Jones is quite good looking for his age of early '40s. Tall and build with subtle gray facial hair.

"Of course! Please sit." I placed the paper in front of the table. "Mr. Jones before we start I want you to know, My team and I are here to help you. And for that we want you to be honest with us." He nodded in reply.

The meeting ended at well note, and we decided to have in house meeting with Rockwood and their legal team at the end of the week. As the pile of work came to an end, it was already five past ten in the evening.

"It is wish coming true."

I looked up to see dad standing at the doorway, with a rare smile on his face.

"Dad?" I wasn't expecting him to drop by. He walked in and looked around the office, my desk, and back at me.

"I am proud of you. Now I know I raised all my kids well." He said pulling me to one of the couches. "Not like I ever doubted that, but now seeing you here makes it more real."

"Thank you, dad." I pulled him in a hug.

"But I'm sure you just didn't come all over here to tell me this? What is it?" I asked him. He cleared his throat, "Hera now that you are officially entering the court world, I would like to introduce you to a few influential people, in and out of the courtroom."
