Chapter 4

"So how does one become a Vampiric witch?" The silence between us was thick. He kept trying to make small talk but I couldn't think straight enough to answer him. I mean seriously how could I ef up so bad in one night.

Broke down in the middle of nowhere...check

Get trapped inside a magical barrier...check

Share the same breathing space as a monster that could kill me...check times maybe a million.

I decide to give in. Jackson didn't know what he was I was almost sure of it. "Well the short version is I was a witch to start a necromancer to be specific. Born to evil awful parents and then they almost killed me and someone saved me turned me into a vampire not realizing I had evil magic in me and turned me into a vampric witch."

"Is that why you can come out during the day?"

I bite out a laugh. Humans were funny. "Vampires can come out during the day as long as its cloudy, sun doesn't react well with them it's just super painful but it won't kill them, but yeah I have some side effects like immortality and I'm also really strong and can thankfully still see the sun rise and not drink blood."

"It's like you have all the perks without the nasty side effects."

The truck bumped along on the road I turned looking at him he wore that infectious smile. "So uh where we headed or are you planning to kill me and dump my body. Not that you could, just thought I'd ask. I don't like surprises"

"I'll keep that in mind, I will definitely warn you before I kill you." He grins not realizing how close to home that hits right now.

"I'm sorry I really am about your girlfriend." He rests a hand on my knee quickly pulling it back as a spike fires up my blood. He had to stop touching me. My nerves couldn't handle it.

"I'm okay now, just on edge and nervous about what's happening to the town. I want to go in the woods, but the creatures that live in there are dangerous . Some people think it's Danny and Cole, Danny is Sam's boyfriend. I know it's not though I'm with them all the time."

"What do they eat?" I ask not really wanting the answer.

"Animals mostly I think."

The farther we drove the darker the atmosphere. Nothing physically was different the air just felt different like a cloud of depression covered this part of town. The smell was gone but the shift in air was heavy making my skin crawl. There was definitely something sinister here.

"Here it's right up here." Jackson leans over to me.

We pulled up to a giant old boarding style house made of brick. It was eerie and beautiful. Woods surrounded the property making it look like it was in a world all its own. If there was wolves running about though I would be pretty nervous for the vampires. But hey I wasn't here to tell people how to live.

Jax came around and helped me out of the truck.

Perfect gentlemen Jax.

I swear the good ones were either gay, taken or dormant killing machines.

We walked up to the cement steps and I was instantly in love with this place. It was gothic and dark. Old family money is what this place screamed.

Jackson walked in and leads me to a sitting area as a eyes instantly spring to me like a magnet. "Lucy, this is my sister and Danny." He turns to them there faces holy unimpressed. "She's a bounty hunter I guess, Aunt Caroline sent here to help us with our situation."

They just starred at me. I ran a selfconscious hand through my white blond hair. "Your eyes are freaky." The girl says.

"Shut up Sam." I frowned at her touching a self conscious hand to my face. My eyes were ice blue nearly white and sure they stuck out but screw her very kindly. Jackson set a supportive hand on the small of my back which made me feel other things in much lower places.
