"You look like you're trying to crack my windshield with your glare." Mixed emotions swirled inside me. Bringing Jax was dumb but I'd rather keep an eye on him just in case Landon got to him before I did.

"Yeah well, I'm not exactly tickled fucking pink about the idea of my oldest," only  "friend betraying me." Landon's shock about Jax gave me hope he didn't know anything.

He blew out a whistle. "Sure know how to pick em." I level my glare on him. "Sorry! Not funny got it! Please drive I don't want any threats against my manhood,  you guys have yet to be acquainted."

"They haven't been acquainted with anyone." I bite back.

"As if they don't already know." He grumbles.

I pull up to the diner and see Landon through the dinner window and nerves take over my body. "What's the matter?" I forgot Jackson was there.

"Something doesn't feel quite right." There is a weird energy in the air. Dread fills me but I get out of the car and walk towards the diner blaming it on seeing Landon.

In the dinner greasy food floods my senses making me hungry but I didn't have time for that which just made me angrier. Landon stands giving me a hug I return with a one arm pat."Why don't we take this outside?" Good because my stomach was going to eat itself if I kept smelling breakfast without eating it.

I walk ahead with Landon, Jackson giving us space. "So how is Cinders treating you?" He looks over Jackson his eyes flicking black. "Are you serious?" He snarls.

I don't back down,"Dead serious, now tell me where you've been!" I look back at Jackson who is no doubt confused but I ignore it.

Landon began, not taking his eyes off of Jackson "I told you I was with a girl. I've been hiding out until that wound healed but it's not." He glances back at Jackson who I can feel glaring behind me.

"Let me see." Landon lifts up the sides of his shirt. Claw marks are painted across his skin in pinks yellows dark reds and even green. "Oh my god it smells." I mock gag. "A girl aloud you to touch her," I gag again "with that." I gag again.

"Knock it off! As awesome as it looks it feels even better, the infection won't go away." My palms light up which causes alarm in Landon's eyes. "Don't!" He shouts. "I mean no don't I'll be fine. I don't know what kind of reaction it will have with your magic."

I put my hands down, not willing to argue. Let the bastard suffer. "He ain't much to look at is he," He murmurs to me. "hard to believe all that power that lies under the surface. I expect you're taking good care of my girl." Jackson shifts uncomfortable under his scrutiny.

"So have you done anything useful while being here?" I ask

"There's something in the woods, something smart. It's bringing in spirits from other dimensions. That kind of magic is unearthly, very wicked." I didn't want Landon to know I was suspicious of him. I couldn't believe he was involved I wasn't even sure what would he even have to gain.

"You need to kill him he could kill anything at any moment. The strength that will come from him will be incredible or do I need to remind you." He grabs my shoulder and I wince. Damn him. "Ah still a little tender huh and that happened like what four hundred years ago.

I grab my shoulder self-consciously as the not so welcome memory of having my arm literally ripped from its socket when at the mercy of a past berserker. "I still kicked its ass though. You were there, not much help but you were there. I should have beaten it with my arm." Reattaching it had not been a good time in the least. Talk about sewing 101 "I almost did too you saw me, how funny would that have been? Death by arm beating what a story that would have been."
