I'm not dead. Just writer's block. Have fun reading. :)
Alexander's P.O.V
It's been almost a week and Katia is still in a critical state. None of the doctors have told me much but they say that they may be able to find out what is wrong with her by the end of the week.
She stopped bleeding but no one knows why she was bleeding in the first place! She underwent many surgeries and finally she stopped the internal and external bleeding.
The doctors told me that she is in a coma. They have no idea when she will wake up but are sure it won't be years. At the most a couple of months.
I've been so confused during all of this. I didn't understand how this could be happening. Not even Xavier knows what caused this and he was with her the whole time before.
He said he didn't do anything and I believed him because I knew he wouldn't.
I was starting to get scared. Scared for my mate. Scared for what was wrong with her. Scared for if she would even wake up.
I'd been in my office for the past almost week at night since I spent the days with Katia at the hospital. I did the work for the pack late at night and then went to the hospital to see Katia around noon time and had told them to keep me alert on her condition to see if anything changed in it. And if so to contact me immediately.
Katia's sister had come out of the hospital recently and heard that Katia was in this condition. She was extremely worried at first and wouldn't leave her side along with the other sister but I convinced them to go in with their lives and told them I'd tell them if anything happened with Katia and finally they had gone home. After four days of convincing.
Katia's sister had been released about four days after they caught her so called 'boyfriend' out in one of the more crowded packs. Smart move but he also gave away his location at the same time.
Anyway I was in my office at the moment, filing some paperwork for something that had to do with resources for another pack when the phone rang.
"Come quick, the hospital, Katia." Was all I hear the doctor say before they hung up. I quickly told the head guard to bring my brother and tell him to go get Katia's sisters
I ran down the hall and through the the larger rooms and down the stairs until, I finally reached the front door and opened it, running out into the crisp night. I didn't shift because although They would enjoy it, I didn't want to flash anyone at the hospital.
I rant here in human form and got there in about two minutes. I ran through the doors and immediately the nurse came to me leading me down the hall and towards what I remember was Katia's room.
There I didn't find Katia but instead the doctor. I was about to shout at the nurse angrily before the doctor spoke and she scurried away "Alpha!" He said with a small bow I nodded in response waiting for him to continue.
"We found out what caused Katia to have such severe injuries without sign. " he said. I urged him to continue and he did "when you hear of the silver tipped rose?" He asked.
I nodded. I'd heard about it before, when I was smaller, they told me of a kind of rose that grew only in the far corners of all the packs. It was made mostly of liquid than solid. If you added the roses liquid contents to silver it could cause extreme effects. The effects could range from losing an ear to losing your wolf side. They were severe nonetheless and that worried me even more.
The doctor continued "it seems that the silver that she came in contact with while being held in captivity was unknowingly tinted with the roses contents and the affects only started when you saw the blood on her shirt." He explained.
I thought for a moment and asked "do we know what her side affects will be?" I asked him. He looked at a clipboard he had in his hands and then said, "we are not exactly sure but the first step is internal or external bleeding, the next was a coma, and we believe that from now to the next symptom she will experience weight loss or gain and she will feel very week once she wakes up." He says
"We believe that is all the information we have so far and we think that she should try to take it easy for a while before she does anything drastic or important once she wakes up." He finishes.
I nod, letting the new information sink in. I'm just relieves that she isn't going to experience any of the worse symptoms. From what they say it looks a bit better. Now I have to find out who tinted the silver.
My first suspect, Xavier.
I thanked the doctor and headed over back to the pack house. as soon as I got there I called Xavier and told him to get here as quick as he could. In a saute 5 minutes he was here at the door.
"Alexander, what's wrong?" He asked. I got starlight to the point, "did you use the silver tinted rose on Katia?" I asked. He looked shocked but answered "no, where did you hear that from?"
I explained to him what they had told me at the hospital and he just nodded the whole time, listening to me. When I finished I could see the hard look of hate on his face.
"Why would anyone do that?" He asked. A little upset. "I don't know" I answered in the same way "but I plan to find out" I said.
Me and Xavier said our goodbyes and I went to my bedroom seeing how I still had a couple of hours to sleep left. When I got there I was about to get under the covers when something hit next to the window.
I opened it and saw an arrow with a slightly familiar shape at the tip. I also saw a note attached to it and grabbed it, pulling the note out. It read:
Dear Alexander,
We searched far and wide for that rose, Alexander, I hope it's effects were good enough.
As you can see, Xavier is not the only one coming after you and your mate but also us.
We hope that you are securely guarded and hopefully that pretty little mate of you too.
You know what we do and we are sure you know what we are here for.
Sincerely,
The Zangara Flame
