I was quietly walking down the street holding my dad's hands to school. It was recommended by the principal that they walk me on the first day so I wasn't scared. But I don't get scared.

"Are you ready, Dude?" Dad asks.

I look up at him and smiles.

"Yeah!"

"Are you gonna do good in school?"

"Yeah!"

"Are you the best person in the world?" Daddy asked smiling.

"YEAH!" I almost scream from excitement.

We walk a little further and my stomach starts tingling as I see a small school appear in my view. I stop walking and my dad's look at me.

"Common Seth. You got this!"

"I don't know if I can do this."

"Of course you can! You're the coolest kid in the world!" Daddy says smiling.

I smile slightly and we continued walking. My school, according to daddy, was very LGBTQ+ rights. He told me about how sometimes people that are in the community moved schools because it's a better place to be! I'm so pumped.

We walk on the property and smile as we walk inside to come face to face with a huge rainbow. I smile larger then ever and run up to it. I look at my dad's and Daddy snaps a photo of me.

A kid walks up to me and smiles.

"Hey! I haven't seen you around." The kid says smiling

"Yeah. It's my first day."

"Am I the first one to talk to you?"

"Yeah... Im a little shy." I say looking down.

"My name's Daniel. I'm non-binary." They say holding out to have me shake their hand.

I hear my dad's snicker and I look at them. They stop laughing and I go back to looking at Daniel

"I'm Seth. I'm transgender Male." I say shaking his hand.

"He/Him pronouns, right?"

"Yeah, you?" I ask putting my hands in my pockets.

"They/Them."

Dad walked over to me and smiles.

"Okay Seth. We're gonna be going. Are you gonna be okay?"

"Yeah. Now that I got Daniel here. I should be fine."

My dad smiles and hugs me.

"That's good. Take care young man." Dad says towards Daniel. Daniels face becomes blank.

"Dad. They're Non-binary."

His eyes widen and he puts his hand on his chest.

"I am so sorry. Have a good day young.. non-binary... Entity of matter."

Daniel chuckles and smiles.

"It's fine."

My dad's walk out of the school and Daniel grabs my shirt.

"Common. Do you even know what class you have first?"

"Y-yeah. English with Mr. Jules." I say being dragged.

"Oh shit... I have art first. But your with my friend Syd. She's cool." They say smiling.

I chuckled nervously and waited from the English room to be unlocked while talking to Daniel.
