John's POV

August 15th 2015

"OK." I say. I run to the car. I turn, grin, and wave to Rachel one last time before riding off. She waves back. "Later!" I shout.

"Later!" she shouts back.

I buckle and turn my head left. Joey and Alexa are smirking at me.

"Who's she?" Joey, My older brother, smirks.

"She just moved here." I respond. He's going to hold this over my head for sure.

"Aww..." Mom and Alexa, my older sister, say in unison.

"Too bad I'm going to miss out after I graduate next year." Alexa says. She is now a senior in high school.

"Don't worry, I'll make sure you won't miss a thing." Joey smirks. Called it. Why couldn't they be twins?

"It's nothing, She's just an acquaintance." I roll my eyes.

"Hm Hm..." Alexa giggles.

"We'll see about that..." Joey continues smirking. Aoh, no. I hope they don't say anything to my friends..-

"What's her name?" Mom asks, interrupting my train of thought.

"Rachel." I respond.

"That's a pretty name..." she says.

"That's what I said.." I say, without thinking.

"Awww!" Joey and Alexa mock and laugh.

Help. Me.

"Well, She must be a nice girl. I'm sure everyone at school will get along with her."

She probably will.

I stare out the window the rest of the way home. I can't help but think.

I was just sitting on the beach. Joey and Alexa were on their phones and Mom and Dad were wading in the water looking for seashells. My phone was at 20% and I didn't have connection. I just decided to hang out and enjoy the view. That's when I saw Rachel, walking up the beach towards us. She seemed to notice something and knelt down to take a photo of the sailboat drifting by with her polaroid. It was a nice shot, I had to hand it to her. She seemed like a nice person to talk to. And she was. Mom's right. I think she'll get along well with the others at school.

We arrive home. There it is. My charger was under my bed. I'm just glad my phone didn't die. I plug it in and decided to text Rachel.
"Hey 😄."
I hit 'send'.
