Rachel POV
August 15th 2015
After John left, I decided to take a few more pictures before heading home. I captured a few of the sunset. I texted Mom and rode home. Dinner tonight was Hamburgers. Dad is on-the-way. In military terms, meant either 'work trip' or 'patrol'. My Dad is in the U.S Coast Guard. I've heard people in the past say that the Coast Guard is the most 'useless' branch in the military. It's not. Right now Dad is stationed in at a dock in another city and has to remain there for a few days.
When we moved here, I decided to create a blog on Blogspot. I write advice and rant about other things. I called it My Everyday Advice. Tonight I'm writing about photography and updating my girl on the move column.
My phone is buzzing. And it's not ringing my normal tune. It's John.
"Hey." I say.
"Hey." I type.
I hit send.
He's already on read?
Typing...
"Can we meet up 2morrow?"
I have a feeling we're going to be great friends. Let's be sarcastic. Wait...No, that wouldn't make sense.
"Sure. When and where?"
"Shhwom..." goes the phone as it sends.
He's typing..
"Same beach section at say 11:00am?"
Oh, I love mornings in the summer. Especially when I'm at the beach. This is a great photo and sketch opportunity, but I'm sure John has other ideas.
What are we going to do? Is this a nice thing to ask or should I just let him decide tomorrow? I don't want to risk it.
"Sounds like a plan 😉"
"Great, see you then?"
"Yup"
Mom pops her head in.
"Who are you texting?"
"A guy I met at the beach."
She gives me a look. She doesn't trust me.
"Mom, I'm 12. I'm not old enough to date. You've already established that."
"What's his name?" she asks. Aoh, no. If this becomes 20 Questions...
"John. We're going to going to the same school. You'll meet him."
"I better."
"He's not a bad guy, Momma. He's nice."
"Hey, you never know."
Mom leaves the room.
I think I know who changed my ringtone. I'm just going to make sure.
"Hey, Did you give yourself your own ringtone? 😏"
Read
Typing...
"Mayyybeeee... 😏"
"Haha 😂"
"I'm sneaky like that..."
"Obviously, haha"
I'm actually looking forward for tomorrow. I think I will arrive early for a photo opportunity, incase John has other plans for things to do. Maybe to get in a sketch or two. I finally have someone to hangout with. Better yet, John knows other kids. Maybe he'll eventually invite them to hangout too.
