"Thanks, and you really shouldn't do that to your sister," I say.
"We're siblings. This is what siblings do. Don't you have any?" Asks Harry.
"I have a younger brother so I know what it's like for Gemma, always having to look out for you. Whenever you get in trouble it's automatically her fault because she's responsible for you. Believe it or not Gemma looks out for you more than most sisters."
"How so?"
"That night you came home drunk she didn't tell your mom. She covered for you, so that you wouldn't get in trouble. Many other siblings would've been dying to tell on you."
"You don't know her. She's a little goody goody. Always trying to be better than everyone else. Every time she gets an award at school or acknowledged for something she makes sure to bring it up at dinner so that mum can question me on what I've accomplished."
"Maybe she's just trying to encourage you. Maybe she just wants the best for you."
"It was just a harmless joke," he looks down at the ground.
"Keep in mind that she's the one who cleaned your wounds when you fell out of that tree, she's the one who made sure you took your medication when your mom wasn't home, and she's the one who takes you everywhere you need to go."
"How'd you know about the tree?" He walks me towards the kitchen away from Travis.
"Uh, you told me," I lie.
"No. No, I didn't."
"Umm... it was when you were drunk. You probably don't remember."
"Oh, what else did I tell you?"
We hear a loud screech from the living room and enter to find Gemma with a face full of whipped cream and Travis with his camera in hand, laughing.
"What was that for?!" Gemma wipes the cream off her face revealing her bright red cheeks and furrowed brows.
Travis just laughs and turns to Harry, "This'll be great for the internet!"
I look at Harry who looks just as shocked as I do.
"Get out, Travis," I walk into the kitchen to get Gemma a damp cloth.
As I'm turning the corner back into the living room I hear a loud crack.
"Bloody hell!" Exclaims Travis.
"Get out." Harry hands Travis what's left of his camera and clenches his jaw until Travis slams the door behind him.
"I'm sorry, Gemma. I should've stopped him," says Harry.
"Well you broke his camera so I think he's learned his lesson," she laughs.
"He better have. Nobody messes with my sister except for me."
"By the way, I got a text from mum. She'll be home late today so I guess I'll cook dinner," says Gemma.
"Does she know Natalia's staying with us?"
"Yes, she knows."
For dinner Harry and I try not to make it hard on Gemma so we just boil some noodles for ourselves then head upstairs.
"So you'll only be here until the end of the semester then what?" He asks.
"Then my mom gets here and we rent out a flat or something."
"And you'll still go to the contemporary school here?"
"Yup. If I like it I'll stay and if I don't then I'll be the first flight back to America."
