Luckily for me and Harry both, my mom called yesterday, said she'd be arriving in Cheshire a couple of nights after prom. Even though she's arriving a bit later than expected I'm just glad she'll be here soon.

Today is my first day back at school. I got bored of staying in the house and waiting for Harry to get home so we could awkwardly bump into each other while wandering the hallway, deciding what to say now that the secret is out. Hopefully my studies will get my mind off of him.

"Hey, you're back. Finally decided you're not too good for old Holmes Chapel after all?" Jack sets his plate next to mine and takes one of the many empty seats at my table.

"I never thought I was too good for this place," I look around, "it was my original plan to come here."

"Then did you finally decide that you're not too good to sit with me?" he asks.

"Nah, I am too good to sit with you," I joke.

"I could tell by the way you ditched me last time you were here," he says.

"I'm sorry about that, I really am. You know I didn't mean to, right?"

"I guess but why aren't you over there now?"

"Umm you mean besides the fact that I really really missed you?" I smile.

"C'mon, be honest. I won't be mad."

"Okay, Harry found out who I really was," I say.

Unexpectedly, he begins to chuckle.

"You must've seen that coming," he laughs.

"I was going to tell him myself but I was worried he'd respond like this."

"Oooh, how'd he react? I need details. Tantrum Harry is the funniest thing ever," he continues laughing.

"This isn't a joke, Jack. Do you realize how much this affects me? It's worse due to the fact that I live with him."

"Awe honey, that's why you don't move in with your boyfriend before marriage," he jokes again.

"Jack, stop."

"I'm sorry, it's just I can't believe you would let some idiot get to you like that."

"You wouldn't understand. You've never been in love."

"Haven't I?" He gives a longing look to the table across from us.

"Jack? Tell me."

He takes a deep breath and begins, "Stephanie and I used to be really close."

"Close? How close? As in dating kind of close?" I ask.

"No, not exactly. We were best friends. I loved her and she loved me until one day when we decided to have a little get together for our good friend, Harry's arrival from America. It started out fun and all. We talked, danced, laughed, and played games. When it came time to spin the bottle it landed on Stephanie and I. I- I refused to kiss her, it didn't feel right especially after what had occurred in the previous months. Anyway, Harry tends to say rubbish when he's drunk but he hadn't had one sip of alcohol that night.

He humiliated me by accusing me of being gay, said that I wasn't man enough to kiss a girl, never was. Then he grabbed Stephanie, pulled her in by the waste, and kissed her and that was that. Ever since then things were never the same, he took my best friend, changed her and even if they've broken up things can never be the same."

"Wow, I never knew. I'm sorry."

"It's alright. No one knows, except for us of coarse."

"Why would he do that?" I ask.

"I wish I knew. Everyone noticed that he tried to rush their relationship once they started dating, that's one of the reasons she dumped him."

"Jack, I think I know why he did what he did," I say.

"Why?"

"I think he was just trying to forget about me."

He sighs and looks back up at me, "It's not your fault he did what he did or acts how he does. It's his and it's time he takes some responsibility for his actions."

"He's not a bad guy, Jack."

"If he's not then who is?"

I don't say anything so Jack decides to change the subject, "So who are going to the dance with now?"

"I have nobody to go with so I'm probably not going."

"You have to go!" he exclaims.

"With who?"

"Well I'm not taking anyone.."

"And it won't be awkward?" I ask.

"Not unless you want it to be."

"I wouldn't want it any other way," I smile.
