Chapter 9

Lilly's P.O.V.

        After making sure JC was asleep, I decided to call Connor, I downstairs and outside by the pool. I hated how we ended things but I was just so upset, he had so much time to tell me how he felt about me but he didn't. Once I was outside I texted him first, but I just had to hear his voice so I called him. Connor finally picked his phone on the third call, and it might have been the last time I hear his voice.......

Connor's P.O.V

“That ass” i swore driving at a way to fast pace down the old back road, “how dare he take her away from me.”

Why was i so pissed? J.C. is one of my best friends, i should be happy for him, right? Wrong. I wasn’t happy, i was pissed. She chose him, why? Maybe he’s blackmailing her or something like that…No, J.C. wouldn’t do something like that. My phone buzzed and as much as i tried to ignore that familiar ding i couldn’t when Lily's name popped up on the screen. I grabbed my phone and opened the text.

It said one word, one pitiful word.

Sorry.

Sorry? Sorry! she chose my BEST FRIEND over me and all she can freaking say is Sorry! and a text at that. she didn’t have guts to tell me to my face. Ok screw her. Screw J.C. too. I want to run, to drive, somewhere, anywhere. I pressed the gas pedal harder, i was already 20 miles over the speed limit, what was a few more miles gonna do?

I tossed my phone into the passenger seat with a flick of the wrist and put both hands on the wheel. I stared straight ahead and didn’t turn back or pay attention when my phone began to ring, that one tune that used to fill me with joy but was now like the call of the devil.

After the third call i finally snapped my arm out and grabbed the goddamn thing.

“What!” i spat hatefully.

“Connor i’m sorry” She said and i could almost see her face with tears running down her rosy cheeks that were like apples.

“Save it Lily” i growled, “don’t you need to somewhere with J.C.” he name was said with pain that i prayed she didn’t detect.

“Connor talk to me, just, ok?” she sounded frustrated.

So first she rejected me then she gets pissed at me, no freaking way.

“Lily i trusted you” i said making a sharp turn, “i loved you, but, you know, i lived without you before and i can do it again”

I didn’t hear the loud honking.

I didn’t see the 18 wheeler coming at me.

I didn’t hear Lily yelling my name.

Everything seemed to move in slow motion.

The truck came at me.

I dropped the phone and grabbed the wheel.

I tried my hardest to dodge the monstrous vehicle coming at me head on.

I saw the terrified face of the other driver.

I heard Lily screaming at me to answer her.

I braced myself for impact.

The truck rammed the driver side and the car flew. It flipped through the air and the truck spiraled off the road into the forest. The car landed on it’s top and i hung upside down. The smell of gas and fire reached my nose as well the the stench of my own blood. Red clouded my vision and i went through my mind of the things i could tell were broken.

4 ribs, left side.

the lower part of my right leg, both bones.

My wrist was shattered and doctors would need to pull bone strips from my skin.

My skull was fractured.

My left shoulder felt off and i was growing dizzy

“Connor?” Lily’s voice reached my ears and i let a small smile tighten my lips.

my eyes felt heavy and i had no clue what was going to happen next but i saw the driver of the truck get out and charge towards me.

“Connor?” she asked again.

i let my eyelids droop because i could die happy as long as Lily’s voice was the last thing i heard.......
