WORDS couldn't describe the surprise, hurt, heartbreak and sadness I felt within me.

  Some people gasped. Others laughed.

Julian released her and stepped back. Then he turned and pulled me along with him as he charged down the hall.

Halfway out, I yanked my hand free of his.

"Why am I suddenly following you?" I asked with a hint of venom in my voice.

"I'm sorry you had to see that. There was no other way."

He ran a hand though his blond black hair, messing it up.

"I'll say. You two looked pretty cute!" Man, my voice was dripping with sarcasm bit I didn't care.

I mean, who hits on a girl and kisses another in front of her?!?

An angry feeling settled in my guts.

"Hey, I'm sorry okay? Please Deh-" he began.

"Don't Dehlia me. I haven't even gone through my first week here and this is happening."

He tried again.

"If you would please just listen to..."

"No, I don't want to hear anything. J- just go. I need time to think."

I waved him off.

He stared at me for some time, took in a deep breath and walked away.

That night, there were no howls. I found myself wondering what was wrong.

I lay back and counted to fifty. When I opened my eyes, saw the click strike 'one. I gazed at the roof and counted then boards.

I shifted to my side and stared at my dressing table.

It was then I realized I was too restless to fall asleep.

I got up from the bed. I had no idea what was controlling me. I moves towards the window and opened it.

Fresh breeze greeted me and I inhaled it

deeply.

It seemed a long way down as I looked out into the blackness below.
What in the world are you doing? I asked myself as I swung a leg over the sill. I did the same to the other and found a foothold.

From there, the ivy plant that grew around a pipe beside the wall aided me in climbing down.

The grass felt cool beneath my feet. I hugged my long sleeve pajama top around myself tight and wandered into the forest.

He watched her walk through the forest with caution. He'd called her but she didn't know. She was a pretty little thing.

Much prettier than Wilma.

He sighed deeply.
Wilma.

Her name brought back many bad memories. Her twin brother Wyvern hadn't forgiven him even after he'd tried to explain what had happened.

He'd gone back to his coven but they'd banished him;temporarily and now, he was a loner.

He'd sworn to never love again but now that Dehlia had come into his life, he was beginning to notice a change in him.

He'd become protective. Too protective. A twig snappedand his focus returned to the strawberry blonde who'd frozen.

He saw her wary eyes darting around. They were beautiful. A light violet colour. He'd never seen anyone with those eyes before. She sat down and breathed in.
