PANTING heavily from all the running, I flew through the door, shut it and locked it.

Scratch that! I quadruple locked it.

When I'd done the windows, I came back to guard the door, a blade in my hand.
I wasn't taking any chances. Not with two monsters out there.
I leaned on the door and slid on my back all the way to the floor. I couldn't believe what I'd seen outside.

Julian.

My beloved Julian was a...wolf! A wolf that had actually tried to kill me! After all we'd been through...

Hmm. Come to think of it, Veiko had actually been the one who'd looked out for me despite our love-hate behavior towards each other.
Then he just had to be a what?... Blood sucker??

"No, please, not Veiko." I whispered.
Anyone but Veiko.

I breathed and dried my eyes.
There must be some explanation for all of this.
They were just acting out a play for the school's drama club and needed it as real as possible.

Yeah! That's a good reason!

At least, that's what my subconscious led me to believe. In reality, I knew there was no drama.
It as all too real to be fake. Haven trotted towards me—no, towards the door and began to scratch on it, whining.

"Dehlia?' I heard Julian's voice. 'Please, let me in. I didn't mean to yell like that. You weren't suppose to see me that way. This is why I don't get angry around you. My species are...our emotions aren't all that simple."

I drew my knees to my chest and fought a wave of tears that threatened to fall.

"I care a lot about you, angel." I almost gave into his plea but I held myself back.

I won't fall for that a second time. I thought.
"Darling come on, we won't hurt you." He continued.

We? Oh, so they were two. Ain't no way was I opening the door. Not with the big bad wolf and bat outside.
Not in the hair of my chinnny-chin chin.
Luckily, they couldn't blow the house down.
Silence ensued before I heard that soft silky voice that made heat pool in my core for no reason.

"Darling, I know it's hard to process all you've seen. I know the trauma you must be going through. Not knowing it was us all along. Pretty shocking, huh?"
I couldn't believe him right now. He was discussing it as if he was talking about the weather.
"I've seen someone else go through it too. I can promise you and swear on my life that I won't hurt a single hair on your head.
But even if you don't believe us, could you at least answer me?"

I was finding it difficult to ignore his voice. The tone...sounded so truthful but I'd already had my fair share of lies.

Everything of the two months I'd been here came crashing down on my shoulders, destroying every barrier I'd built to keep myself from this sort of emotional wreck.

Even after all I'd said to him.

I leaned against the door and began to cry.

                       *     *     *
He pressed his ear to the door, trying to listen for her. Even for his superhuman abilities, he couldn't hear a thing.
It was too quiet.

"Dehlia? Please say something. He heard her gasps through the door and realized she was crying! The one thing he'd promised he'd never do to her again.
