Five months later...
Zion Dawsey walked into his office with a sigh. He loosened his tie and placed his briefcase next to his desk. His computer was already on, a specific task he gave Michael a few months ago.
And as always, his display was full of the local news. And to his surprise, he found the person he was looking for: Bonnie Stewart left Tenakis.
His breath got stuck somewhere on its way when he looked at the pictures of her. She looked as busy as always, with a frown on her make-up less face. He clenched his jaw once he looked at her stomach. Nothing. As flat as three days ago and the days before that. She was not pregnant, yet she never called him again or demanded another attempt.
He clenched his jaw and then closed the website, not feeling the need to read the attached article about her. She wasn't pregnant, that was all he wanted to know. He wondered how long until she'd want to see him again.
Zion sighed with a shake of his head and stood up from his seat. What did Michael say was to do today? He didn't exactly listen. Which honestly wasn't new ever since he started this stupid obsession with news of Ebony Stewart.
"Michael!" Zion roared and a second later his P.A. came into his office with a gulp.
"You called, sir?" He asked his boss."Yes, tell me today's schedule again." Michael wasn't surprised his boss forgot again. He wondered what happened five months ago. Because he needed it to be fixed. The company's numbers were not rising or falling.
They were steady with no sight of change and while that was not a reason to panic, it was a reason to slowly start thinking. But he was not the boss, Michael knew. Zion probably had a reason for this, he was sure.
So Michael refrained from sighing as he told his boss the schedule another time. Zion made sure to listen this time and nodded every once in a while. Once he got it, he told Michael to leave him alone.
And so his P.A. did.
.
Bonnie Stewart sighed once she got home. She dropped her suitcase by the door and took off her clothes on her way to the bathroom.
Another meeting done. That was the first time she's been to Tenakis personally. Her business had to do with some companies over there. Normally she had people who would fly there and represent her and the company.
But she needed distraction. And work was the best opportunity to distract her after what happened. Because even after three months, she was still thinking about her unborn child. By now, her belly would've been visible, she thought for the nth time this month.
Now that she was alone and standing under the shower, she couldn't help but fall into that hole again. To go back in time step for step, trying to figure out what caused the miscarriage. Even though the doctor told her not to give up and that miscarriages happen to way more families than she thought, it was still heartbreaking.
And she needed time to mourn over her baby. No matter how old it was, even if the limbs weren't formed yet, it was still a living something in her belly. And for seven weeks she had everything she ever wanted.
But she wanted to try again. That was exactly what she planned on doing tomorrow. Tomorrow she'll visit him again.
And she was not going to tell him. He most likely didn't even care.
Author's note: I was not sure if I should make a trigger warning at the beginning of this chapter. But I didn't want to spoiler too much, so I decided against it.
Miscarriages are a very sensitive topic for many and I apologize if it makes some more sad than others.
What do you think about this chapter?
