As Arkaine walks home from hanging out with Leata for some of the night, he starts to smell smoke. He wanders off to the location of the smell only to find his home burning down to the ground. He sees his father inside injured, so he jumps in holding in his breath so he didn't breath in the smoke. He grabs his father and jumps back out taking a big gasp of air then yelling, "Father! Father wake up! Who did this?!" His father wakes up slightly, "My son.... You must run..." he said to Arkaine. Arkaine looks down at him and asked, "Why?! Who did this?! Father!!!" As he went on yelling his father said one final sentence, "I....Love....You....My.... Son...." then died in Arkaine's arms.
Arkaine's eyes widened and tears fell from his face, He got up and headed toward the location where Leata and him met. Leata is sitting by the lake looking at the flowers and sees Arkaine, tears rolling down his face, covered in ashes, his hands covered in his father's blood, "Arkaine! What happened to you?!" Leata asks in shock. Leata runs over and Arkaine falls to his knees. Leata kneels down beside him and comforts him as he cries with sorrow. Arkaine explains what happened and Leata told him something very important. "My cousin Toka, and his brothers disappeared over an hour ago.... When we were together...." He then realized what she was trying to say, "Your cousin.... Did this to get back at me...?" Leata tears up a little and says, "Possibly... I'm sorry it's my fault...."
He looks at her and says, "No... it's not, you couldn't stop him, you would just be hurting yourself in the process..." She looks at Arkaine and her face turns red, "Hey Arkaine...?" she asks quietly. "Do you think we could go find somewhere to live together..?" Arkaine looks over and says, "Uh... What makes you bring that up...?" Leata tells him, "It's safer if we stick together, I feel my cousin will be back, And I will need you to help me fight against him." Arkaine thinks this over and then says, "Okay, but remember we are a team." She smiles and nods. They then set off for a part of the country call Failaar, It's near the ocean, and they would find out that their adventures together would start there.
