Also please give the book a chance I know that the beginning is rocky but the later chapters are becoming much better and I would love if you would stick with me and offer your opinions:)))

"Life doesn't always introduce you to the people you want to meet. Sometimes, life puts you in touch with the people you need to meet – to help you, to hurt you, to leave you, to love you, and to gradually strengthen you into the person you were meant to become."

Carters POV*** Carter is a girl

The world is made up of things breaking. The things we expect to never break sometimes break the easiest. Buildings, bridges and the most frail of all- love. The loss of a family, friend or lover is a pain that kills the heat slowly, then all at once.

Growing up I fantasize about marrying a guy who would treat me like my father treated my mother. To me they were the definition of true love. Of course, all things break, and some can never be repaired. Nothing is ever indestructible. There will always be something bigger than you. Sometimes you break yourself, sometimes the thing you love breaks you.

My name is Carter Sparks and dreams most definitely do not come true.

•••

This is actually happening, I think while breathing calming, deep breaths as I look to the large gates of my new school.

Pulling on my holey sweatshirt I begrudgingly got out of my father's car. "Good luck today Carter, glad you are home" my dad says, his voice choked up, leaning forward against the steering wheel to look out the window at me. Taking a peek at his face I see his eyes are red and I feel the need to run before he starts to cry. Again.

"Thanks, dad," I say trying not to cringe at calling him that again after many years of not seeing him, "I'll see you after school, yeah?"

"See you there kiddo, I love you," he says, his voice cracking, sincerity lacing his voice.

Waving goodbye, I walk through the extravagant wooden arched doors of the supposedly amazing school. However, I can't help but compare it to everything from my old school in Arizona. Yeah, my old one was falling apart and severely underfunded, but it was my normal, in a way, it was my sanctuary from all the drama in my life.

........

Walking up to who I assume is the school's receptionist, I ring the bell and after taking out my headphones ask in a dull voice "Could I please have my class schedule?".

No response, not even a glance in my general direction. Well okay.. rude much? Whatever, screw this I don't have time for this shit.

"Excuse me? ...No you still can't hear me?" This bitch, "Okay fine I'll help myself"

Reaching over to the desk computer, I grab the keyboard and ignoring her now loud protests, and type my name into the student database and print out my schedule.
