you tapped your phone with your nails nervously, hearing the rhythmic clicking against the cold metal object. the light piano and dim yellow lighting filled the restaurant with a warm, romantic ambiance. even with the inviting atmosphere, your stomach still felt mildly nauseous with worry.

you hadn't been on a date in years, much less trust someone to set it up for you. but after much pestering, both aidy and cecily had forced your hand and made you go on a blind date with some random dude who worked at 30 rock.

and now, here you were, sitting at a small square table waiting for the mystery man to show up. it was 8:03, and you were supposed to meet up at 8, so it wasn't like he was late or anything. you were just so nervous that you came early, probably bothering the waiters by taking up a table and not eating or drinking anything.

bored, you searched the restaurant for a familiar face, when your eyes landed on a tall man with curly hair and geeky glasses. you stood up, waving him over. he saw your face and smiled, sitting down across from you.

you noted his nice light blue button down and black tie. "mister mooney, all dressed up i see?" you joked. "of course madame, same to you" he smiled, following along in a cheesy accent. "yeah, i'm supposed to be meeting someone. aidy and cecily set it up."

"oh really?" his eyebrows raised. "same thing for me..." he trailed off, a puzzled expression on his face. that's when your phone buzzed. you looked down to see a text from cecily.

'enjoy your date mrs. mooney ;)'

your face turned red as you buried your face in your hands. kyle must have gotten a similar text, because he stared at you blankly.

after a little bit, he spoke up. "well, uh, this is awkward..." he laughed. "yeah it is"

it turns out that it wasn't that bad. the food was good and kyle made the night fun. you felt yourself falling for him, and as you walked out of the restaurant hand in hand, you smiled. you felt good.

while strolling in central park, he grabbed you and put his lips softly on yours, making sure you were okay with it. you only pulled him closer, embracing him tightly.

you both pulled away to get some air. kyle had the biggest smile on his face. "i...well, i have a confession. i've liked you for a while and asked aidy and cecily to set this up...i hope you don't mind. i just didn't know how to tell you."

you smiled and leaned in for another kiss.

"can you ask them to set up another one?" you said smiling.
