V-time; Chapter one.

Chapter four; Umm, Why Is My Food Moving?

Vi was walked down many corridors and turned many corners. Finally, they reached the "cafeteria" actually, it was more like a courtyard with many,many stone benches and tables. There was a long counter where many different kinds of foods were held. Vi was very excited at the ideas of eating as much food as she wanted. She grabbed a tray and got in line. Vi noticed that the food had labels and started reading them. What she saw was terrible. Beetles, worms, snails and slugs. Most of the food was alive! The only thing that was normal was the cherry tomatoes, and Vi hated those. Vi went up to one of the lunch helpers and asked if she served any broccoli. Vi had grown up on broccoli, and thought it would be a good choice for lunch. The woman shrieked in horror. broccoli? She squeaked? Okayy, Vi thought, obviously you don't go for that. How about pizza? She'd tried that once and despite the fact it was cold, she had liked it. The woman looked at Vi as if she were an alien. Right. Vi said. How about mushrooms? Vi didn't exactly like the taste, but at least it was edible. The woman started edging away. Huh. Vi grunted. She sat down with an empty tray. Presently, a woman came up and offered Vi what looked like a mini steak. Hesitantly she took a bite. A strong, bitter taste filled her mouth. She managed to choke it down, then gasped what was that? Smoked lizards tongue. The woman answered with a smile. Vi felt like puking. Quickly, she asked the woman where the bathroom was. As the woman pointed a long finger, she said don't worry, you'll get used to the taste soon enough. Hopefully you'll even forget about terrible things such as broccoli, pizza and mushrooms. She spoke each name as if she wanted to puke. As Vi headed to the bathroom, there was only one thought on her mind. These people are crazy.
