The Doctor, the Glorious, the Widow and the Wardrobe [Part 4]

Inside, Tower, Night...

As the Doctor worked on getting the door open, Lily and Joy saw that the shadow of the statue was getting closer.

"Caretaker, it's coming." Lily informed, frightened. "Open the door!"

"I'm trying!" He shouted.

"Try faster!" Joy shouted as she scurried up his body to perch on his shoulder, still looking in the direction the statue was coming from.

"I'm trying!" He replied just before the door unlocked with a loud click. He looked up. "That wasn't me..."

"It doesn't matter!" Lily exclaimed before pushing past him and going through the door.

Inside, Tower, Top room...

Lily rushed into the room, followed quickly by the Doctor and Joy as the female statue turned its head.

Cyril was unconscious in the chair as Belle whimpered sadly while she laid her head in his lap from where she sat on the floor.

Lily, being conscious of where Belle's tail was, ran to the throne and kneeled in front of her brother.

Joy scurried down the Doctor's body and went to Belle's side, lightly tapping her with her little paw. "Belle, what happened?"

"What's wrong with him, Caretaker?" Lily asked. "Is he dead?"

"It's okay, he's just unconscious." The Doctor said as he leaned over and checked Cyril's pulse before standing back up straight and walking over to the statue. "So, what are you, then? Not a king, a queen! The Queen Bee of the forest." He then took note of the numerous bite marks on the statue's arms and legs before looking to Belle as she lifted her head from Cyril's lap. "Did you do this?"

Belle nodded sadly. "I was trying to protect him."

The Doctor gave her a small smile, walking over to her and petting her head. "Good girl..."

"Caretaker! Look!" Lily exclaimed, making the Doctor, Joy and Belle look to where she was looking only to see lights as they lifted from the trees outside.

"It's like..." The Doctor trailed off.

"Like what?" Lily questioned.

"It's like..." Belle started as she walked to the window, Joy now sitting on her back. "The life force is leaving the forest. Our home..."

The male statue then arrived in the room and walked towards them.

"What are they doing?" Lily asked quickly as she watched the statue. "Stop him!"

The Doctor took out the sonic and used it on both the wood 'King' and 'Queen' as they advanced.

The sonic did nothing.

"Aliens made of wood! This was always going to happen, you know." The Doctor glared at the sonic screwdriver.

The two statues then stopped, flanking the chair.

"It's okay." The Doctor tried to reassure as they all looked at the two statues. "I think they just want to talk to us."

The wood couple looked at Cyril, the circlet lighting up.

"They're scared." Cyril stated. "Can't you hear them? The trees are screaming. Can't you hear?"

Lily quickly ran back to her brother, the Doctor using the sonic on the circlet as Belle nudged Cyril's hand with her nose.
