Chapter 8

BG'S POV

I decided while on tour, I was gonna buy Dakota an engagement ring. I wanted to start a family with her. I wanted her to be my wife. So I go into the jewelry store and get her a ring. It's a simple rose gold band, with a decent sized diamond in the middle. She loves rose gold, so that's why I chose it.

I decide I'm gonna come home early and take her for a walk. I was gonna stay and didn't studio work but I can do it at home. I pretty much moved into her house, the only thing missing is sylo. Since I'm only a couple states over the tour bus takes off for Jefferson.

I wake up as the bus comes to a stop at Dakota's house. I get off the bus hoping she's asleep. I walks in and sure enough, she's passed out. I pull her to me and she snuggles in my side before opening her eyes.

"Omg! Babe! Why are you home? You aren't supposed to be home yet!!" She screams.

"I wanted to surprise you. Go back to sleep. I'm taking you on a date when you wake up." I say kissing her shoulder. She snuggles up to me and falls asleep.

I wake a few hours later and leave a note on my pillow.

' Dakota. Get dressed and hurry. Follow the roses. I love you, see you soon!

I quickly leave and set up the lake. I spread the roses and put up the table and chairs. I made food before I left, so we have fruit, sandwiches, and soda.

I sit at the table waiting for her to get up.

Dakota's POV

I wake up and realize I'm in bed alone. I run my hand up the bed and feel a piece of paper. I read the note before getting ready.

I walk out the door, following the roses and see Brantley sitting at a table. I walk to him and he pulls my chair out for me.

"What's the occasion?" I ask.

"Just wanted to have a date with my woman today." He replies. I shrug it off and start eating. We make small talk while we eat, and it's so calming. I've been stressing these also couple days, and my leave was granted from work yesterday.

We sit on the ground looking at the lake. "Babe, look!" He says and I look the other way.

"What?!" I ask, turning back to him. He's on one knee. Oh my god!!!!!

"Dakota Rose Adamson, I remeber the first day I saw you on the playground. We were young, but I knew we would be friend forever. As we got older I realized that I liked you more than a friend. I left you that day because I thought you didn't feel the same, and it crushed me. I'm sorry for everything I've done to hurt you, but," He says pulling out a black box, opening it and I gasp. "Will you become Mrs. Gilbert for me?" He asks. I start crying and shake my head rapidly.

"YES!" I finally managed to get out. He slips the ring on my finger before kissing me.

"I have something for you." I say, breaking the kiss.

"What is it?" He asks. I take his hand and start towards the house.

BG'S POV

She drags me to the house saying she has something for me. We get to the house and she sits me on the couch. She leaves the room for a second before coming back with 2 bags and a paper. She hands me the first one and it's a onesie. Like for a baby.

"Do you want to start a family?" I ask excited.

"Here open this one" she hands me another bag and I reach in it. I feel wood and I pull it out. Its a ultrasound picture. With her name. I start crying. I'm so excited.

'Welcoming the new addition to the Gilbert Family in January!!'

I throw the paper down and spin her around. She's squealing and asks me to put her down. I lift up her shirt and kiss her small baby bump. It's barely noticeable, but I know it's there.

"Hey there peanut. Daddy loves you very much. And I wanna know if you and mommy want to go on tour with me until it's time for you to be born!" I say, looking up at my fiance.

"Yes, we would." She says.

"Well, go pack. I have to leave in the morning." I say. And she goes to pack.

I can't believe I'm gonna be a dad!
