Chapter 16

Despite the encounter, Jena wouldn't let her evening be ruined. She had so much fun. It was Sia's 20th [birthday and Fred was more than proud of the lady she had become. They cut the cake together and were to feed each other with a piece or two but Sia smashed the piece on Fred's face instead causing everyone to "ouch!" Crazy Mia started yelling "Lick, lick, lick"
The crowd joined her. Eventually Sia had to heed to their request lucky enough for her,it was just around his lips so she licked the cream which resulted in an ice melting kiss.
Everyone then headed for the dance floor. As expected, Mia had gone crazy dancing to all beats. The DJ diverted from pop,hip-hop,RnB to slows.In no time,everyone found a dance partner.Jena stood alone at a corner feeling Jack's absence and thinking he should've been there. She was deep in thought when someone veiled her eyes with a well-perfumed veil. She felt like screaming but the person whispered in her ear,"Don't scream. I just wanna dance."
Oh and why did he have to veil her? The lights had gone out and the music was a little loud so she couldn't make out his voice. She accepted with a slight nod and he gracefully took her to the floor. He treated her like some princess. The dance was slow,mild,gentle and deep.She wished this was Jack though she knew that was an impossible wish. His cologne was very familiar and she wondered who this could be. Just then,the music switched to Kris Allen, "I need to know" her favourite and she became more open with her dance and could feel all eyes on them since the spotlight was on them. The dance ended and before the lights were switched on, Mr stranger left. When she removed her veil, no one could tell her who the guy was.Poor Jena fell into an abyss of suspense.The night ended well and about 5 am, Fred drive her home while Mia and Sia stayed with the few guests who were spending the night.
"I don't care what they say,  I wanna be with you" was the song that woke Jena up later day. That was her ringtone for Jack.
"Babe. How did the party go? "
"Jack. It's so damn early. I got home at 5.30"
Jack chuckled, "Early? It's 11am "
"Ugh. I hate you. The party was OK. Have lots to tell you but I'll Skype you when I've freshened now that you woke me up. "
"OK hun. Talk soon.I love you like crazy. "
"Nah. I don't love you"
"Huh? I know you do Jen"
"Yups. You right.Laters sugar"
They hung up and Jena smiled widely but her smile faded when she remembered last night's events.She had 3 messages, one from Nick, the other from Jemea and the last fR an unknown number.
The message from Nick read:Hey.You know we have to talk I suppose. I'll come pick you up at 2pm.
Jemea:Yes I'm awful but I don't want us to be enemies please.
Unknown:Hey,you must be wondering about last night but it was fun and I loved the way you danced.
2pm. She had to call Jack as soon as possible.It was 11:13 am already so she quickly showered, ate a few pancakes alongside some milk and returned to her room.Dressed in a pair of blue shorts and a dark tank top, she called Jack.His usual casual self,he was in sweats as well eating a big lovely bowl if ice cream. Jena eyed him suspiciously. When he noticed, he furrowed his brows.
"Babe.Why you looking at me like that?"
"Nothing just wondering why you have pink lipstick on your lips."
Jack looked at her eyes wide with surprise and bewilderment.
"Don't mess with me Jena."
"Hahaha got you. " she replied excitedly.
They spoke about the party,she seized the opportunity to tell him about Nick and their history.She told him it was just a crush but she hadn't told Nick about Jack and that worried Jack. She equally told him about the ghost dancer.
"Babe if all this shit is happening, guys hitting you it's either I'm coming first thing tomorrow or you come over." He said angrily
"Jack I can take care of myself OK? Don't worry"
Jack was hesitant but eventually he said "OK Jen. Just take care of yourself. "
They spoke about Fred and Sia as well,about the cake ordeal and how serious their relationship was even after Elaine, Fred's ex had broken his heart. She sure would be jealous of Sia because Fred was so happy with her. They chit chatted about minor stuff and said their goodbyes. She had to clarify things with Nick and Jack respected that. It was fifteen minutes to two when Jena noticed a car leaving her drive way. The windows were tinted dark so she couldn't see the person or people in the car. She, however, got ready quickly.Nick wouldn't be late.She dressed casually in tights, a polo and boots.As she walked out the door towards the gate, she heard Nick hoot but the sight which caught her eyes was dismal and shocked her be very  much.
