THE VOW
prompt: James recalls his friendship with Nadine throughout the yearsJAMES couldn't stop himself from gawking. He watched Nadine as she slowly made her way to the aisle, dressed in custom-tailored fairy princess gown; his eyes were glassy as he took in her beauty.
This was his best friend.
His partner in crime.
The love of his life.
Nadine.
I still could vividly remember the day I have first met you, Nadine. It was the prettiest smile that I have ever seen and I was suddenly mesmerized.
You didn't notice me for you were too busy giggling as you talked to your friend.
It was an acting workshop under our former agency, Viva. We didn't get the chance to talk because I was doubting my own capabilities on approaching you and start a conversation.
I was intimated.
Bret elbowed his best friend's arm, nudging his attention. He noticed James watching Nadine entering the room, "Ahhh. I see that you have a crush on her." He laughed, "Why can't you just be a normal human being and walk over there and say hi?"James crossed his arms, he shrugged, "I don't have a crush on her! I'm actually reading the signs over there. Just so happens that she's there too!" He said defensively
"Huh? That's such a pathetic excuse." Bret frowned, shaking his head, "I've known you since we were 14. Plus, you're not a good liar."
James rolled his eyes in response.
"Well, if you aren't going to talk to her, then I'll be introducing myself." Bret's lips curled into a mischievous smile
And before James could say no; Bret has already made his way to the other side of the room, whereas two women were busily talking, not aware of his presence.
Bret can be such a dick...sometimes.
Angrily raking his hair in frustration, James mumbled, "Fuck it." Then followed his friend.
Bret clenched his teeth together, grinning, then slinging an around his mate, "James! I'm glad that you've joined us."
James let out a huff.
"Ladies, let me introduce you to my best friend, James. We first met in PBB."
The women gave James soft smiles in acknowledgment.
"Oh wow. Weren't you the winner of the 10th season?"
"Yeah." He smiled sheepishly
"Nice meeting you then, James. I'm Liza."
Meanwhile the other woman stared at him. She was quiet, maybe an introvert even. He noticed Liza nudging her friend.
"Hi, I'm Nadine." She muttered, almost quietly.
"She's really shy when it comes to new people."
