It was Lauren's big wedding day.
Nadine was ecstatic and giddy to see her best friend after a long while. After Tito Boy released the joint statement on his show and all hell broke loose, she decided to distance herself from the squad especially to James' wonderful family.
It was really difficult, she must admit.
She was always warmly welcomed and loved by the Reids. Daddy Malcolm has the biggest heart; treated her as if she was one of his daughters, even joked that she was his personal favorite over his son, James. Her heart ached when she remembered Daddy Malcolm calling her that night when the joint statement was released.
"Is it true? About the joint statement? I- I don't understand... You and James seem fine," Malcolm's voice cracked over the phone as Nadine clenched on the phone as if her life depended on it, sobbing quietly.
Then there was Jack. Mischievous Jack. Despite the fact, Nadine barely sees him (since he has been travelling along with his friends in different parts of the world), he still managed to check up on her older sister from time time to time. He even emailed her when she was in France.
He still loves you, you know.
The email until this day was left unreplied.
That was Jack's last email that Nadine got from him. He didn't bother anymore.
Lauren was her protective sister. She was there for Nadine every time she needed someone to talk to, especially whenever Nadine needs an advice. It was actually Lauren who knew the plan prior to the release of the statement.
Lauren sat back and sighed, shaking her head, "Well, as much as it hurts me, babes. I can't change your mind. This is between you and James,"
Nadine nodded.
"How is James handling it?"
Nadine's gaze shifted downwards, "Not so good,"
Lauren placed her hand over Nadine's, a soft assuring smile crossed her face, "He'll come along, Nadine. You know James - matigas talaga ulo pero it's because he doesn't want to lose you,"
Then there was James.
The love of her life.
Her soulmate.
Her security blanket.
Looking back, 2019 was a rough year for both of them, especially for Nadine. The never-ending projects and endorsements. The non-stop issues thrown from here and there. The pressure coming from the management - the fans.
Nadine was burned out.
The movies that she did during the year 2019 was emotionally and physically draining. There was a moment in her life that she felt unmotivated - not the morning person that she was used to. She sometimes don't wan to go up to bed and work.
All she wanted to do was pack her bags and leave, maybe even for a little a while. She needs a breather. Everything was choking her. She felt like in any moment, she was about to combust from all the stress.
She wanted an easy way out.
Though, she couldn't just easily leave - give up her career and flee out of the country.
She have responsibilities. She have a family to feed and worry about. She had James. Obligations to fulfill.
Nadine somehow envied James of how chill he was - how he got everything figured out like what he really want to do with his life, his plans, his passions. Everything was perfectly planned and ironed for him.
