I'm updating early because of my amazing commenters! (Voters you guys are awesome too! Readers, please vote and/or comment!)

"Alastor Moody, ex Aurora, ministry mal contempt, and your new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher." The rugged man introuduced himself.

A new DADA teacher meant that Severus would decide if he thought the new DADA teacher was decent at his job and if it was unnecessary to continue tutoring Lucy in DADA. Severus Snape believed that Alastor Moody would be a competent Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, however, in light of recent Death Eater attacks, Severus decided that they would continue their DADA tutoring lessons.

"I'm here because Dumbledore asked me, end of story, goodbye, the end. Any questions?" Mad Eye Moody looked around the room for raised hands. None were lifted so he continued. "When it comes to the dark arts, I believe in a practical approach. But first, which of you can tell me how many Unforgivable Curses there are?"

Any restless energy, any mirth that lingered died in that moment. The Unforgivable Curses were so named for a reason. "Three sir." Hermione spoke.

"And they are so named?" Alastor took a piece of chalk and began to write on the board.

"Because they are unforgivable. The use of any one of them-" The new professor interrupted Hermione and finished her sentence, "earn you a one way ticket to Azkaban. Correct. Now, the Ministry says you're too young to see what these curses do.

"I say different! You need to know what you're up against, you need to be prepared," he turned back to face the chalkboard before resuming, "Need to find some other place to put your chewing gum besides the underside of your desk Mr. Finnegan!"

"Ah, no way. The old man can see out of the back of his head." Seamus Finnegan whispered.

Moody spun around and chucked the piece of chalk he was using at Finnegan. "And hear across classrooms!" he then lowered his voice, "So, which curse shall we see first? Weasley!"

"Yes?" Ron jumped.

"Stand." Moody ordered, making Ron slowly rise up out of his seat.

"Give us a curse."

"Well," Ron hesitated, "my dad did tell me about one. The Imperious Curse."

"Yeah, your father would know all about that. Gave the Ministry quite a bit of grief a few years ago. Perhaps this will show you why." The newly appointed DADA Professor stood over a table at the front of the room and lifted the lid off of one of the glass containers.

"Hello! Lovely little beauty." He reached in and pulled out a strange bug like creature before casting, "Engorgio" (makes something bigger) followed by "Imperio". Mad Eye Moody, sticking to his reputation, directed the creature about the classroom.

When it was on either Crabb or Goyle's head he assured him, "Don't worry, It's completely harmless." However, when it was on Ron, Moody panicked Ron even more than Ron already was by saying, "If she bites, she's lethal."

Draco started to laugh louder then the rest of the class combined so Professor Moody floated the insect onto Draco's face.

"Talented isn't it? What shall I have her do next? Jump out the window?" The laughter died down. "Drown herself?"

The new DADA teacher floated the animal onto his open palm. "Scores of witches and wizards have claimed that they only did You Know Who's bidding under the influence of the Imperious Curse, but here's the rub. How do we sort out the liars?

"Another, another, come on, Longbottom, is it? Professor Sprout tells me you have an aptitude for herbology."

"Is it, ah, the um, the Cruciatus Curse" Neville stuttered.

"Correct, Correct! Come come." Moody motioned for Neville to come to the front of the classroom, and then layed the creature on the desk. "The torture curse. Crucio." He cast on the poor thing. (Not Neville.) Its cries filled the air, Neville looked like he was going to be sick.

"Stop it!" Hermione burst, but Mad Eye didn't seem to hear her, so Lucy took matters into her own hands. "Expelliarmus!"

Moody's wand was flung from his hands, making Moody look up in surprise. The DADA teacher retrieved his wand before placing the creature before Lucy.

"Perhaps you could gives us the last Unforgivable Curse, Miss Pevensie."

Lucy looked up at him with a razor sharp gaze, one that could cut steel and clearly declared that she most definitely would not give him the name of the final Unforgivable Curse.

"No? Then would you do the honor, Miss Granger?" Mad Eye directed at Hermione, who was sitting beside Lucy. Hermione's eyes glistened with unshed tears as she shook her head no.

Without further hesitation Alastor Moody cast the final curse. "Avada kedavra! The killing curse, only one person is known to have survived it, and he's sitting gin this room." Mad Eye moved to stand in front of Harry before gulping down the rest of the liquid in the container he always carried around with him.
