Mid September

Lucy pushed aside the tall seaweed as her feet propelled her through the murky water of the Black Lake. The mermaids that reside there that actually came from Narnia, swam on either side of her. They looked just as they did in Narnia, to her at least. Oreius had informed Lucy that the mermaids had cast illusions on themselves to appear differently to those not of Narnia, as such, Lucy had no idea what most wizards thought mermaids looked like.

Lucy reached the end of the seaweed field to see what appeared to be stone ruins covered in underwater plants that grew on and around them. Seirlyn, one of the two mermaids with her gestured upward. Lucy nodded in understanding.

Back in Narnia the Mer folk had shared the recipe of the secret elixir that allowed the other creatures that were not of water the ability to breath underwater, for a limited amount of time that is. The elixir lasted two hours, and as an added bonus, it kept the user from getting all pruney from being in the water for so long.

Lucy was soaked as she took the steps up the beach to reach the dry dress coat, which was really just a long coat, that she had left there for when she had left there for when she emerged. Lucy snuggled into the warmth of the coat before waving goodbye to Seirlyn and Mertrill and started back to the castle.

Late September

Lucy was shaking off the rain from her cloak in the Great Hall when she paused. It was strange, being the only one in there with the Goblet of Fire, with a blue flame burning in it at the center of the room. Uneven, loud footsteps echoed as the feet's owner neared. On a whim, Lucy ducked under a wooden bench.

"Idiot....thought I wouldn't be able....Harr..ter...Triwizard..."

Lucy had a terrible feeling in her gut. When the uneven footsteps faded away Lucy emerged from her hiding place. Something terrible was going to occur. Lucy needed to do something!

A few minutes later.

"Oh Aslan," Lucy thought as she exited the Great Hall, "Please help me, and please let me have done the right thing."
