I woke up to see Shawn standing beside me and looking out a window. I didn't want today to be filled with pain so I didn't bring up cancer or Marci. On the inside I was crying because just the thought of my daughter having to basically live in a hospital tore me apart. My thoughts were quickly interrupted as I saw Shawn's muscular figure shift. I wanted to start packing up since this was the last day I had to stay in these uncomfortable beds. I turned to the chair on the other side of me and I saw that all of my bags were packed and my clothes were on top waiting to be worn. I very stelthily grabbed my clothes and walked into the bathroom to change.
I opened the door and saw that Shawn was still staring out the window, but now I had a better look at his face and he looked as though he was in deep thought. I walked over to him leaving several feet in between us.
"I didn't mean to wake you." He said as he stared at an empty playground outside
"You didn't." I responded quickly
"Do you ever regret marring me?" He asked as I was taken off guard by the question
"No. Why would-?" I started just to get cut off by him
"I mean. I'm always on tour and I barely get to call you. I wouldn't blame you if you had divorce papers ready." He said while barely turning his body towards me
"Shawn I married you because I love you. You sing because you love to. Don't you?" I looked into his eyes "Well yeah of course, but what about-?" it was my turn to cut him off now
"I may not love that you go on tour, but it's better to get to hear your voice one day out of a month than to lose you." I confessed as he walked closer to me and gave me a hug. I accidentally let a cry that I was keeping in escape my lips.
"Babe I'm sorry I didn't mean to make you cry." He said while moving his hand up and down my back.
4 Years Later
I had been overjoyed just three weeks ago when Marci's doctors told me they had cured her of cancer. As soon as I got the news, I called Shawn and told him
"Babe that's great, but I got to tell you something." He said through the phone before cutting off "I'm off tour! And I can manage my schedule to my liking!" His voice came from behind me.
Now I'm driving my car back to my house with Marci in the backseat and the biggest smile on both of our faces. "Mum. I want to go on America's Got Talent." She said breaking the silence "You'll have to talk to your father about that one." I said while pulling into the driveway. She ran out of the car and into Shawn's arms
"Daddy I want to be on America's Got Talent." She practically begged
"Yes. Tryouts are tomorrow just down the road." He smirked as she squealed and ran to her room to pick out the perfect outfit.
"I've missed you." I gave him a hug. I heard footsteps coming down the stairs as I looked up to see Melody and Naomi
"Girls, Marci wants to go and tryout for America's Got Talent tomorrow. You'll be hanging out here with mum." Shawn said as the girls eyes lit up.
The Next Day; Shawn's POV
I woke up at exactly five o'clock, which meant that I was the only one up. I slowly rolled out of bed; careful not to wake Sky. Once I was out of bed I looked back at Skylar's eyes and I couldn't help but wonder if she was actually asleep, because a beautiful smile was playing on her lips. After a few minutes I went downstairs and started making pancakes; once the pancakes were done I walked into Marci's room and shook her awake "Marci I made pancakes for us." I whispered.
She hopped out of bed and ran to the table. "Now we have to be quiet, because no one else is awake." I whispered while handing her a pancake
"Are you ready?!" I asked with a grand smile
"No daddy I'm still in my pj's." She whispered
"How could I forget?!" I exclaimed while laughing and hitting my head with the palm of my hand
"Sssshh! They're still asleep." She smiled as she ran into my arms while wearing a beautiful purple dress.
We got out of the car and saw the enormous line and I noticed that Marci's grasp on my hand had tightened. I looked down at her "Are you nervous?" I asked while waiting in line and she nodded.
"Do you want to go back home?" I asked while stuffing my hands into the front pockets of my jeans
"No! Daddy I wanna do this." She said while wrapping her arms around my legs and burying her head into my knee.
1 Hour And 45 Minutes Later
It was finally our time to tryout; she took the stage in front of some random people with headsets on. The music started playing a familiar tune and I found myself humming along. A voice broke through the music and I had a double take until I realized that the angelic voice belonged to Marci 'I promise that one day I'll be around. I'll keep you safe. I'll keep you sound.' Her beautiful voice rang out singing my song Never Be Alone. Once she was done one of the people stood up "What's your name sweetheart?" the young lady asked
"Marci Mendes." She answered
"And how old are you?" the young woman asked writing the information down
"I'm four years old." She held up four fingers and then walked off stage. I started walking towards her, then I noticed a man talking to her and I quickened my pace
"Oh is this your daddy?" He asked with the odor of alcohol reeking in his breath.
"Yes I am her father." I said as the man got onto Marci's level
"You know. Just because your daddy's a pop star doesn't mean you'll make it." He said as I put Marci behind me "On the contrary. She already made it. I bet she'll advance to the next level too." I said and then put Marci in my Jeep.
