Tears of Paris

I woke up and packed the girls bags along with my bags. Then I walked down to the lobby with Shawn carrying not only his bag, but also the girls bags and I carried my bags. Shawn gave the girls their bags as I gave them hugs
"Now be on your best behavior for Nana and Grandpa." Shawn said as Manny glared at him
"Papa." He mumbled. Then the girls motioned for me so I knelt down in front of them
"What is it?" I asked then Melody looked up
"Mum I know this is for your birthday, but if you find some effiel tower earrings can you get me them?" She asked so innocently
"And if you find one of those French hats, can you get it for me?" Naomi asked
"If you find a scarf can I have it?" Marci asked
"If I find them at a reasonable price then yes." I smiled
"Oh and please don't tell daddy." Melody said
"Why?" I asked confused
"He said he wants to spend time with you like you used to." She said as I stood up thinking about what she said 'like you used to.'
In Paris, France
We walked hand in hand passing every store and bakery. In one of the bakery windows I saw some muffins "Shawn! Muffins!" I said while dragging him into the bakery. We ate the muffins and then walked into a store a few blocks away. We walked through the door and I saw the hat that Naomi wanted. I picked up the hat and went over to a lady behind a table
"How much?" I asked as she examined the hat
"$25 in ze Americon dolor." She said as I pulled out the correct amount "Would you like to make ze donation? Of ze 5 Americon dolor?" She asked with her French accent even stronger "Sure." I said while handing her the final amount then she handed me the hat and a scarf. Two birds one stone.
We continued walking in the store then my eyes landed on the prettiest silver effiel tower earrings just like Melody wanted and they are only $20. I walked up to a man behind a table and paid for the earrings.
"Why are you buying all this stuff." Shawn asked
"Souviners." I said as he smiled. He quickly grabbed my hand and ran outside. We ran up the Effiel tower then Shawn pulled out his phone and started playing Thinking Out loud by Ed Sheeran he then started doing the salsa which made me laugh. I thought about when we were teenagers and he did the same thing to the same song.
I then caught people staring at us "Shawn they're staring." I said while laughing
"Let them stare." He said as he spun me around. When the song ended the Effiel tower lit up and Shawn started playing Say You Won't Let Go by James Arthur. He grabbed my hands and we started dancing
"Shawn I thought you said you couldn't dance." I laughed
"You said the same." He said studying our steps
"I said I can't dance well." I laughed while playfully hitting his chest.
He walked me back to the hotel, but this dress caught my eye. It was a beautiful black and silver dress with splatters of turquoise in the silver. I looked down at the price
"Wow."
"You like the dress?" Shawn asked as I turned around and started walking "Not anymore." I answered.
The Next Day
I woke up and saw Shawn buttoning up his white shirt. I then saw the dress that I wanted.
"Shawn did you buy this dress?" I asked as he turned around to face me "Yeah babe. You looked so sad because it was expensive. And you spent most of your money on things for the girls." He said as I put on my black lace dress.
"You have no idea how much I-" Shawn said then his phone cut him off
"Cameron! Hey! No Nash didn't call me yet why? What happened? Why would Nash? He will call okay bye?" He said as he hung up.
"What was that about?" I asked while putting a black bow in my hair
"I don't know." He said then his phone rang again
"Wow your popular today." I said and my phone rang
"Hello?" I asked
"Yes hello are you in any relation to Chad Hamilton?" the person asked as my heart froze
"Yeah I'm his daughter." I said while watching Shawn tug on his hair as he paced back and forth.
"I'm sorry to inform you but he has died in a drunk driving wreck that he caused." the person said as part of me was happy yet the other part of me was sad. I hung up and waited for Shawn to get off his phone
"Look Nash I'm sorry, but there's nothing we can do. Calm down please. We'll take the first plane back today." He said before hanging up and sitting on the bed.
"What was yours about?" He asked while rubbing his hands on his thighs. "My dad." I huffed
"Him again?" He rolled his eyes
"Yeah he died." I averted my eyes from Shawn and let them land on the floor.
"How? And are you okay?" He asked while putting his arm around my shoulder
"Yeah I'm fine. He died in a drunk driving wreck that he caused." I said as Shawn leaned forward and looked at me
"Where was the wreck?" He asked worried evident in his voice
"Over by our house. Oh my God you don't think that he was going to see the girls do you?" I asked worried
"By our house?" He asked as I nodded.
"Look we've got to get on our plane back home in twenty minutes. Thank God we are only three minutes from the airport." He said while grabbing our bags and running to the door "Shawn why? Why do we have to leave and what was your phone call with Nash about?" I said while running down the stairs with him.
"I guess I have to tell you." He said as we walked into the airport
"Yeah."
"I'll tell you later." He said as we loaded the plane.
