I stood in the doorway looking at the girls who were just staring back at me.
"Time to go to school." I said motioning for us to go to my car. They went to a daycare that got them ready for pre-school, but it was basically pre-school.
The girls and I reluctantly got into my car. The girls looked so sad, so I decided to turn on the radio 'I don't understand how another man could take your sun and turn it ice cold.' switch 'Cause you're the reason for the teardrops on my guitar.' switch 'you just gonna stand there and hear me cry, well that's alright because I love the way you lie.' turn off
"Why does every station have to be against me?" I mumbled.
Once I pulled up to the girl's school I waved goodbye as they got out
"Have a good day. I love you." I said while driving away. Once I got to my work I reluctantly got out of my car. I walked in and saw that all 569 eyes were on me, but it's a reasonable amount since it's 6th-8th grade.
"Are we still going to be singing Life Of The Party?" one kid asked
"Of course." I said recalling my plan to facetime Shawn with the kids singing his song.
"What three people sing the first part?" I asked as the three of them stepped forward and took a seat. "Good. Now who are the five that sing the middle?" I asked as they took a seat behind the first three. "Okay. Who are the six that-" I didn't even get to finish talking before the six took a seat behind the five; leaving the rest of the class to fill in the other seats.
"Let me hear since you've been practicing. Right?" I raised an eyebrow and all the kids shouted
"Yes Ms. Hamilton!" I looked at them and motioned for the first three to step out.
'I love it how you just don't care.' Crystal Ross started as everyone else joined in. At the end they all looked at me
"So how was that?" Crystal asked
"It was perfect." I said
"Perfect enough to show Shawn Mendes. Ya know if we could?" She asked building up hope with every question
"Yes." I said. At that moment Shawn decided to facetime me "Places! Ready?" I asked as all of the kids nodded their heads and I answered the facetime. "Shawn I have a surprise for you!" I said before he could say anything. Then the kids started singing.
Once they were done I put it to where he could see the entire class including me
"So how was it?" I held my breath "Amazing." He said before pausing and speaking again "This is what was so important that you couldn't sign your present?" He asked and I was about to say something, but Crystal spoke up
"How do you know Ms. Hamilton?" She asked
"She's Mrs. Mendes." He said which caused the class to jump up and down while screaming. "I see this was a bad time to facetime. I'll call you later." He hung up. Must've been something important. Or not. Or inappropriate. No, Shawn isn't inappropriate. Is he? I guess I'll have wait until later to find out. How late is later though?
"Did Shawn write any songs about you?" Crystal's voice shot me out of my thoughts
"Yes." I said recalling all of the ones Shawn told me about
"Which ones?" She asked
"Never Be Alone. Air. Roses. Ruin. Treat You Better. That's all. I think." I said which left the class in awe.
"What was your present?" one kid asked
"A contract to Island Records." I rolled my eyes
"And you didn't take it? Are you crazy?" Crystal asked
"Maybe." I mumbled. I was beginning to think that I had gone crazy.
When school was over I quickly picked up the girls and got home as soon as I could. I walked through the doors and was face to face to my father. I grabbed the girls shoulders and pulled them close as their heads hit my knees.
"What are you doing here?" I asked as the girls wrapped their arms around my legs
"Just thought I'd visit my grandchildren." He bent down to their level
"Your not supposed to be here." I said as he looked up at me
"Why not? Just because your boyfriend doesn't like me doesn't mean I can't be here." He looked back at the girls
"Husband." I said causing him to look at me again
"What?" He stood up
"He's my husband not boyfriend." I looked him in the eyes
"I'm never wrong." He said as I motioned for the girls to go to there room
"I have a restricting order." I said while dialing my cousin Janet that works for the police 'Hello?' Her voice came from over the phone "Dad I told you. I have a restricting order. And you're not taking the girls." I said as he slapped me and the girls came out of their room "Go back in your room!" I yelled while holding my cheek
"I'm taking my daughters with me!" He yelled while walking towards the girls
"Granddaughters." I grabbed his hand "Don't ever correct me again!" He hollered before slapping me again and pushing me to the floor. Then a s.w.a.t. team ran in and handcuffed him "I'll be back for them! I swear I will!" He yelled as the officers drug him out
"He escaped from prison so we'll return him. Sorry cuz but he's gonna rot in prison." Janet said
"Better than him being here." I said before she walked out the door. I walked over to the girls and put them to bed.
The Next Day
The girls went to play in their room after breakfast, leaving me to sit in the living room. There was a knock at the door and when I answered it I saw Cameron
"How are you doing?" He asked standing in one place
"Fine."
"When's it due?" He pointed at my stomach
"Any day now." I said smoothing out my shirt
"And the gender?" He ruffled his hair "Don't know yet." I said in pain "Shawn wants another girl. Doesn't he?" He laughed
"Yeah. Oh my." I said grasping onto the door frame
"What? Are you okay?" He put his hand on my waist
"Take me to the hospital." I said not looking up
"Okay and I'll tell your mother to get the girls." He said helping me down the few stairs as I nodded.
