how I feel but I'm scared
of being hurt again, scared
of you not feeling the same
and scared of falling harder.❞

❝I... I'm sorry this has happened between you Ben, I really am... You deserve happiness.❞
Scarlett's POV
"Mommy, Daddy!" Myself and Benedict sprung apart, clearing our throats.
"Hey girls!" Benedict picked Christina up and placed her on his lap. I rubbed my baby bump and sighed. "How goes the princess quest?"
"Daddy!" Christina moaned. "We aren't Princesses. We're Fairies!" I smiled and Benedict scoffed.
"Like there's a difference!" Ella tugged at my top and I gasped. I suddenly felt a hand on my back and Benedict gave me a smile.
"You okay?"
"Yeah..." Shaking his hand off of me, and I shuffle Ella's hair. "And yes, there's a difference. Fairies have wings and Princesses do not." I then finished preparing dinner, the girls inside watching Spongebob Squarepants.
Benedict and I cooked.
Together. He washed and chopped and I stirred.
I made spaghetti bolognese. We all used to eat it together, smiles all around the table- no regrets.
It differed now, but, there were regrets.
At least there were still smiles.
After dinner, I cleaned up and we all sat in front of the TV.
Although, it was getting late and the girls had yawned non stop. I ordered them to go to sleep.
"El, Chrissy." I took a deep breath. "Girls come on, go to sleep."
"But we don't want to!" They groaned.
"Girls, I don't have the strength, go upstairs and get to bed!" My voice got angrier and I took a deep breath. Both of them looked at me, confused.
I guess I had changed.
Benedict broke the tension, and stood up, grabbing the girls' hands.
"Come on girls, listen to your Mother. I'll read you both a story and tuck you in, come on." Glancing at me on his way out, Benedict left the living room with the girls and I looked down at my bump.
I began talking to it.
"Hey little baby. It's your Mum here. I... I love you and there's one thing you need to know. I made a mistake. Your father, I... I still l-like him and I wish that I could forgive him, but my heart and head are feeling different. Just know that, I will love you and the girls no matter what." I press a kiss onto my finger and place it onto my bump, slightly smiling.
And I swore for a moment that I saw a shadow but, right now, I could be hallucinating. I was so tired.
I scrolled thought the channels and The Big Bang Theory came on. I giggled as I watched Sheldon's reaction to the gift that Penny brought him.
And at that moment, I hear a knock behind me. I turn my head. "Hey..." I say, yawning.
Benedict made his way over and sat down beside me. "Are the girls in bed?" He nodded.
"Yeah..." There was a moment of silence. "Listen, the girls they..." I interrupt him.
"I know okay... I was... I lost it. Gosh..." I close my eyes and take a deep breath. "Things are... just too much for me." He runs my shoulder.
"Hey, I can... help out." I go quiet and he changed the subject for us both. "Big Bang. Wow, I remember we use to watch it everyday before bed." I chuckled.
"Yeah, and I'd make you." He smirked and we both sighed heavily. "I'm sorry." I blurted out.
"Not this again. Scar, listen. It not your fault." No matter how much I wanted to correct him to say Scarlett, I just couldn't bring myself to it.
"I just... after we got a divorce I thought we could both be happy and I want..." I paused.
"Want what?" Biting my lower lip, I look away.
"Never mind... I'll..." Clutching my baby bump, I get up and walk over to the draws next to the sofa. I pull out a blanket and walk over to him as I fiddle with it. "I'll let you stay." His eyes grew wide.
"R-really?"
"Yeah I mean... it would be unfair for you to stay here with no house and job. I'll let you stay... Until you get a job." I smile, handing him the blanket.
Benedict slowly jumps up to his feet and tucks his hand into his jean pockets.
"Thank you. I l-. Just thank you so much..." We just stood there, again just looking into each others eyes.
He then leaned towards me and pecked my cheek.
I froze for a moment.
And from that moment on, I knew I had to dig deeper to why I let him do it.
