By this point I grew impatient. Just how long have I been stuck here? Must be over a week by now...
Unfortunately, one cold night after the other forced some sort of illness to attack my system. I knew deep down I couldn't tolerate cold temperatures due to my many years living under Chi's warm rays.
Although, what concerned me the most was the vomiting.
After wiping my lips of any sick, I sat back and pressed my hand against my incredibly sweaty forehead. Prince Levi hadn't visited me for three days, leaving me to my own devices.
My cell felt cold, a great difference from how sweat trickled down my heated skin. A virus maybe? A cold? I hope it's a cold... I stiffened once the familiar jangle of keys alerted me of another guards presence.
The sniffer guard - also known as Mike.
"You smell like sick."
Mike - who informed me of his name just yesterday, neared closer to my cell. How embarrassing... I must look pathetic right now. In fact, I'm glad Prince Levi hasn't visited me.
"The girl who's eyes roamed to the Prince... would you like me to drop him a hint about your condition?"
I clumsily rose from my cell, frantically waving my hands. Prince Levi mustn't know! He'll remove me from my cell and the trial may be put at risk!
"No! Not at all!"
Mike frowned in disapproval, sniffing the air around my cell for a final time. What an odd skill to possess... oh... I do feel terrible... maybe I should rest some more?
"Your relationship with the Prince is none of my business... but I can't help but feel worried for my kingdoms future with you as my Queen."
I froze; my behaviour was indeed extremely suspicious. Quick... think of something! Anything! Mike's the second person to make an assumption on marriage.
Like I said... marriage is a big event... something I never thought would happen to someone like me. I lived on the streets for so long... pleasantries like that left my mind a long time ago.
Why is everyone assuming marriage? Prince Levi has yet to take the throne... I still have time... I sighed gently, muttering my defence.
"I'm not... I'm not a Queen."
Mike ignored my rambling and swiftly changed the topic of conversation. I'm glad Mike didn't decide to question any further.
"If your condition worsens it's my duty to inform the Prince of sick prisoners to limit the spread of infection."
I frowned; Great. Just what I need to hear... I really don't want Prince Levi seeing me like this... his lover all... dirty and sick. Reluctantly, I nodded my head - not much else can be done anyways. I certainly can't restrict Mike's movements from inside a cell.
Or can I?
"It's late. You should rest."
I bowed my head, thanking Mike for his kind words and genuine care for my wellbeing. He certainly didn't have to provide me with extra food or blankets... is he doing so to get in Prince Levi's good books? I don't believe someone like him would do such a thing...
