NOT ON PURPOSEChapter 5 Broken Pieces
She brought the mug closer to her lips and blew the steam to cool off her drink. She then took a sip of the warm milk gently.
She lifted her head and look at her little sister who was sitting in front her. Her sister have been resting her head on the table for the past 12 minutes. She wasn't as energetic as she used to be every morning.
SeulKyung placed her palm on her sister's forehead to feel her body temperature. It was very warm. It was warmer than the milk she had.
" Eomma, SeulYoung's having a fever! " She yelled, trying to tell her mother who was in the kitchen.
" Jinjja? ( really ) " Her mother came to the dining room and feel SeulYoung's forehead.
" I don't think SeulYoung will have to go to the gymnasium today " Her mother paused and changed her gaze to SeulKyung " So, you'll have to babysit her "
" Then, I don't have to go to school? "
" I guess so because me and dad are off to work later "
SeulKyung paused for awhile. Her head kept whispering, yes. She wouldn't have to see NaHyun and SunWoo for a day. She slightly nodded, agreeing with her mother's statement.
the next day
" Ugh recess again " SeulKyung spoke to herself. She had nothing to do when it comes to break time. Forcefully, she stepped out of the washroom and look around blankly. She opened the lid of her bottle and gulped down some water.
She turned her head to the left and saw SunWoo a few meters away. They did an eye contact which have made SeulKyung accidentally choked on her drink. She looked away and acted like nothing happened.
Uneasy, she quickly made her step upstairs, the third floor of her school. A heard of footsteps behind her have made her heart pounded loudly from all of the sudden.
Someone grabbed her hair and pulled it roughly.
" Ahh! " she shouted in pain.
SunWoo let go of her hair and asked, " Why didn't you come to school yesterday? "
" None of your business " She replied coldly as she rolled her eyes. She used her fingers to brush her hair that got tangled.
" Where did you learned that from? NaHyun? " He asked, looking SeulKyung in the eyes.
She tried to avoid his eye contact but he kept looking at her anyway. It made her very uncomfortable. So, she lifted her foot to walk away.
But before she could, SunWoo pulled her hair again. " Stop that! " she yelled at him.
" Don't you know I got another detention class from what happened in the library that day? "
" That wasn't my fault "
" Yeah it wasn't yours. So, was it your bottle's ? " Sunwoo said as he grabbed SeulKyung's bottle from her hand away.
" Give it back! " SeulKyung shouted.
SunWoo raised his hand up to keep the bottle away from her. She only stare at Sunwoo without putting any effort to get her bottle back. Even though she could reach SunWoo's height since he's 177cm and she's 169cm, she didn't want to make her image look too desperate to win over a guy's game.
" I was right, am I? Anyway, this bottle and the water inside is the one who started everything " SunWoo said, still didn't put down his hand. " So, say goodbye to this troublemaker " He threw the bottle away.
The fragile bottle broke into tiny pieces. The water splatter on the floor. It was almost as relatable as SeulKyung's heart once she saw the gift from her father looking like that.
She gasped in disbelief.
" Get well soon " SunWoo whispered as he bumped into SeulKyung's shoulder on purpose and made his way downstairs.
SeulKyung was very mad but she barely did anything. She determined to have a revenge from then on.
