NOT ON PURPOSEChapter 9 He walked me home
They both didn't dare to start a conversation. Keeping their lips shut with feet moving in sync. SeulKyung hung her head low, staring at the tar while SunWoo looked around him - the buildings he has walked past.
SunWoo ran towards SeulKyung, " she's coming " he whispered as he gave her eye signal. NaHyun approached the hallway. Now she get what was going on.
" I'll walk you home " he said to SeulKyung loudly, trying to envy his ex.
He then pulled her bag strap, heading to the school main entrance.
" How much longer do we have to walk? " SunWoo broke the silence, starting a conversation.
She left the question hanging. She kept her steps going, acting like she didn't hear him. SunWoo pulled her bag to stop walking.
" Ah, what do you want? "
" Answer my question " He said while his fingers locked tight to her bag.
She rolled her eyes, pushed his hand and walk away. He pulled her bag again, " How much longer? "
" Ask yourself "
SunWoo let go of her bag, " Looks like your parents aren't good at buying a house "
" Why? "
" I don't know, perhaps they like to see their daughter suffers from walking "
" I didn't ask you to walk me home! " She yelled, pushing him aside and leaving him behind.
" Yah! you're so rude these days "
SunWoo slow-jogged, reaching SeulKyung who was already a meter away from him. SunWoo called her many times to stop but she ignored him. She didn't even turn back.
Annoyed, he pulled her bag, again. But this time, he pulled it with a very strong force. It was so strong that it made SeulKyung fell to the ground. She landed on her knee.
The rough, hard tar formed a scratch on her right knee. Blood started staining her lower thigh. She tried to endure the pain, though tears kept washing down her face.
SeulKyung's POV
It is very painful but I have to endure it anyway. I looked at SunWoo. He looked so worry yet so irritating. I was very disgusted to look at his face that I wanted to slap his cheek.
" Gwenchana? ( are you okay ) " He asked.
I rolled my eyes and stood up. I started walking again. However, I felt more pain on my knee. After another 5 more footsteps, I decided to rest on the curb for a bit.
SunWoo approached me, " Tired? " He asked, smirking.
I was so mad, that I no longer feel any pain on my knee.
Narrator's POV
" Can't you walk? " He asked another question SeulKyung didn't respond to.
" Or can't you talk? "
SeulKyung looked away, annoyed.
Suddenly, a hand placed right in front her face. She changed her gaze to it. SunWoo was offering her his hand to help her get up.
She was very moved by him. She thought of taking his hand. But then, she changed her mind.
SeulKyung pushed his hand away and stood up herself.
" Is that how you apologize? " she looked into his eyes, waiting for his answer.
SunWoo stood in silence.
He suddenly took off his bag and threw it to SeulKyung. Luckily, she caught his bag. If not, fragile items in it might broke into million pieces - just like SeulKyung's bottle.
SunWoo turned around, facing his back to SeulKyung. He then bend a little.
" Are you vomiting?! because I - "
" Hop on my back " He cut her off.
She stood froze. Her eyes widened in disbelief. She was so moved by him that she smiled alone sheepishly just by looking at his back.
After 20 seconds of smiling,
" Palli wa! ( hurry up ) " He yelled.
It got her startled and made her brain working normally again. She finally made a decision. A decision in which she finds it very stupid.
She slightly placed her hands onto SunWoo's shoulders. She then tiptoed to reach his back. As she was about to jump over his back, SunWoo pulled her thighs. It made her heart pounded loudly from a sudden.
" Lead me the way "
" Just- just go straight "
" Comfort yourself, I'm not your crush that you had to stutter for " SunWoo said.
She smacked his head in anger, denying his statement.
After 10 minutes of walking,
" How much longer do I have to walk? " He asked.
" We're almost there " she finally respond to his question, " or just drop me here "
" Here? "
SunWoo carefully dropped her off his back. " I thought I've broke my back " He said as he stretch his hand.
" I'm not that heavy! "
" Whatever " He said as he grabbed his bag from SeulKyung and turned around to head home.
But before he could, SeulKyung held his wrist.
He instantly stop walking. Slowly he turned around, glancing at his wrist before staring into SeulKyung's eyes.
" Thank you " SeulKyung said.
" For what? "
" Everything "
SunWoo gulped down his saliva, still staring into her eyes.
His eyebrows frowned slowly as the time passes by. His face ended up looking like he was disgusted by her rather than moved by her.
He pulled his hand, " That's so cringe ugh!! "
SeulKyung looked away, embarrassed.
" Why did you do that?! " SunWoo yelled as he flicked her in the forehead.
" Ahh! " She groaned.
He turned back and hastened his step home, leaving her before she hold his wrist again.
SeulKyung clenched her teeth, " How annoying " she spoke to herself.
