NOT ON PURPOSE

Chapter 12 Basketball

Every time he shoots, the ball must go into the basketball hoop. He seemed to never will miss what he has aimed. It is almost impossible to see the ball slipped out from the hoop.

SeulKyung can barely change her gaze from him. It was satisfying for her just to see the ball went into the hoop.

SeulKyung's father must've taught him well.

SunWoo and SeulKyung's father unfortunately meet each other again after a very long time. The last time they met each other was three years ago, which when SunWoo was just 14 years old.

SeulKyung's father was known as the greatest basketball coach back then, in Taiwan. He retired and return back to Korea in early 2014. SunWoo was his former student back in Taiwan.

Reunited in a different country may sounds a little strange or unusual, although it was accidental. But it was meant to happen.

" Pigonhaji anhni, SunWoo-ah? ( Aren't you tired ) "

" Ajig, kochi ( not yet, coach ) "

" I'm not your coach anymore " Mr. Ji giggled.

SunWoo only replied him a smile. He then continue bouncing and shooting the ball into the hoop. He seemed to own the basketball court to himself.

" I'll stop for now " Mr. Ji said as he left the basketball court towards his house.

" Algessseubnida ( okay ) " SunWoo replied in a formal way.

After 20 minutes or so, he stopped playing and laid down his back on the floor, panting. SunWoo then turned his head to the left.

He accidentally made an eye contact with SeulKyung. She quickly looked away, trying to avoid the curiosity in SunWoo that she has been staring at him for the past minutes.

A ball suddenly came crashing in her face. It instantly kept her thoughts away.

" Yah! " SeulKyung yelled as she threw the ball back at him.

SunWoo caught the ball, " come here "

SeulKyung ignored him.

" Do you want me to throw this ball to you again? " he threatened.

SeulKyung forced herself to stand up, leaving the bench she was sitting towards Sunwoo.

" Catch " he said as he threw the ball to her. But it accidentally hit her chin.

She glared at him, " This is not basketball, this is pain-ball! "

" It's only painful if you don't catch it "

SunWoo helped her practice catching the ball. After what seemed like forever, they finally practice something else; bouncing the ball.

" Joh-a ( good ) " SunWoo complimented her.

" duh? " she said, flipping her hair with her eyes closed.

" If that so, keep going "

SeulKyung did as he said  without any hesitation. SunWoo suddenly steal the ball from her while she was bouncing it.

" Hey! That's cheating! "

" No, it's not " He corrected her.

SeulKyung tried her best to steal it back, although she failed to. Annoyed, she stood there without doing anything and watched him as he bounce the ball and play all by himself.

SunWoo finally noticed she gave up, " Fine, take it "

" Thanks " she said, plastering a fake smile on her face.

" Now shoot "

Her first attempt was a complete failure, and she somehow has never yet got the ball into the hoop.

After 14 more tries,

" Ah, this kid " he said, shaking his head as he breathed out a deep sigh.

SunWoo slowly approached her.

He then held both of her hands from behind.

It got her startled. She stood froze. She ain't moving an inch. Her heart pounded loudly in rage.

" Ileohge ( like this ) " SunWoo whispered into her ear as he helped SeulKyung shoot the ball.

Finally, the ball went into the hoop.

That was her very first time to think of someone as

more than just a friend.
