SERENDIPITY
"I only have one house, but I have a lot to call my 'home'."
—————
December 1926
Walking back to the Goldsteins' apartment was serene. Ignoring the honking and the people walking alongside her, everything seems to be normal. It's been three days since she and Newt decided to stay for a little while, leaving him occupied with his creatures and her working with MACUSA, now under the orders of her superior.
The busy streets of New York City were something that she isn't quite fond of. She was accustomed to the silence in the streets in the afternoon when Living in Godric's Hollow. The things that one could hear around that village would be the rustling of leaves on their branches, the chirping of birds and, at some point, the Church bell's gong.
She embraced the warm feeling that the sun was emitting-since over the past three days, the chilly wind and droplets of water poured throughout the city of Manhattan. Her eyes watched as Mothers held their children's hands while entering a certain vicinity while some men stood out, reading through a newspaper. The other portion would be sitting on a stool while someone's polishing their shoes.
Tina and Queenie's apartment is just a few blocks ahead, which is why she quickens her pace. Her short brunette hair bounces on every step she took-occasionally hitting her face whenever it gets a chance.
Reaching the block where the ordinary looking complex stood; the brunette was about to climb up to the stairs until her brown eyes caught the sight of a certain store on the other side of the road. The white brick walls and wooden sign gave off the feeling of the Greenhouse back in Hogwarts, whenever they took their classes in Herbology.
Contemplating on whether she would go there or now, Adelaide chose the former. Passing through the road with an ease, since there weren't any vehicles around, the woman stopped herself by the entrance. There were gardening pots sitting on the pavement, different plants and flowers decorated the brown soil. There was one particular container that has a plant that's starting to wither.
Pulling her wand out; Adelaide kneeled down and had to make sure that the coast was clear. When it was, she muttered, "Aguamenti." Rendering it with some water to survive, since it seems to be a bit dried up.
"You're doing magic?" A soft voice said, startling the Auror and causing for her to whip her head back to see who spoke to her. There, stood a boy, not older than eight, who was staring intently at her wand. In the beginning, it rendered her speechless. Great, a kid saw her using her wand. She's screwed.
Adelaide spoke after opening and closing her lips, causing for her to picture herself as a Puffer Fish. "Well-I-wasn't. Kind of.."
"It's okay." The boy interrupted, showing a little smile as he went more closer to the gardening pot. "I'm not-like them. I don't see why a lot of us should be afraid of people that are just like you. You're as normal as we are. Except with some special powers." He began to rock himself back and forth by the heels of his feet. "I guess you're pretty amazing."
