Chapter 5-
"Thank god it's lunch time."
Shoving my stuff into my bag, I stood up making my way out the door as everyone rushed out.
Connor, had been in my first period in the morning, as well as the class before lunch which was right now. At Dawson, you'd have 3 classes in the morning then lunch, and then 2 more classes before the day was over. We had found out that Connor had 3/5 classes with me.Not fair, when my best friend only had the last two of the day with me.
Walking into the cafeteria towards the usual table I ate lunch at, Amanda was already there her eyes immediately landing on me as she looked up from her phone.
"What is this I hear of Katelyn Summers flirting with new student Connor Evans?"
"What?! No, who told you that?"
"Heather..."
"Haven't we had this conversation about not listening to her?"
Heather was one of the more popular girls in our grade that was glaring at me this morning. Go figure that she immediately spreads rumors.
"True...but, a lot of other people were talking too ya know."
"Nope."
"Ugh, why do I even bother with all these fake people and fake news."
Slumping back into her chair exasperated, I laughed.
"Wait, so you there's nothing going on with you two? Cause trust me girl I could see it happening."
"No, he just has like basically every class with me and keeps trying to annoy me."
"No fair, every class? Which one- Hey! Wait! So you guys are talking."
Mid sentence, she had a realization. Slamming her hands onto the table excitedly, I shook my head laughing at how dramatic she could be.
Now grinning ear to ear, she looked at me and I already knew what was coming."I could totally see this becoming a thing! Aw, you'd be such a good looking couple!"
"Amanda, really?"
Laughing, I shook my head in amusement at her outburst. The main reason for her wanting me to have a boyfriend, was cause I've never had one. Lame, I know. I was already in my senior year and my love life was as non-existent as my dancing skills.
Another reason for me getting a boyfriend though, would mean that I would get out more and possibly go to parties with Amanda. Not gonna happen.
And especially when every guy that's asked me out I've rejected. Oops.
It's just I wasn't looking for anything. I'm not necessarily the ugliest person, but I was just fine on my own."Do you at least like him?"
"I've known him for like 4 hours."
"Does he like you?"
Picking up my slice of cafeteria pizza, I shrugged.
"I dunno, ask him yourself."
"Okay."
Eyes widening, I watched with my mouth open mid-bite of my lunch.
"Hey, Connor!"
Amanda waved her hand catching the attention of Connor who was across the cafeteria and had already made friends with all the guys that played sports, half who were egotistical douches.
He was eating with them when he turned to us confused. His blue eyes lit up catching sight of me and my weirdo best friend.See this is what I get for discussing my 'love life' with Amanda.
Getting up, he came over to us.
"Classy."
Narrowing my eyes at him, he commented on how I was eating as I sarcastically laughed.
"I'm Amanda, this ones best friend. And I have a question."
Taking his eyes off of me, I sat expecting the worst.
"Do you like Katelyn?"
Catching him off guard by the question, he cleared his throat but immediately smirked at how uncomfortable I looked.
"I don't know, you can't know much from 4 hours of knowing each other."
He shrugged, but his sentence hinted towards something.
"Oh, okay. Katelyn would just reject you anyways."
Amanda turned away from him looking at her food with the hint of amusement on her face I wanted to wipe off.
I could tell he was surprised by what she said as he turned to me."And why's that?"
As if he was going to get an answer or explanation, I pulled Amanda up with me grabbing our finished lunches.
"Got to go, see you later."
I had my last class of the day with him and Amanda had the same ones as me for the last two of the day.
In a rush, we left him standing there in thought while my best friend followed me out laughing the entire way.
Turning to her, I glared muttering at her.
"I hate you, you know that right?"
"Love you too Kate."
