Chapter 20-

"Cafeteria food sucks ugh."

Amanda sat across from me at our usual lunch table while Mia and Tyler sat beside me having their own little conversation being all cutesy.

Oh how I envied them.

"Well, you can't expect much Kate."

My best friend shrugged picking at her salad. Homecoming was two days ago on Saturday and it was now Monday sadly. To say the least, we all had a pretty great time at our last homecoming. Besides for...you know. The almost moment.
It kinda amuses me how much more Amanda doesn't like Heather now ever since I told her that night how we were interrupted. I sighed about to pick at my own food when a bag was dropped down in front of me.

"Here to save your day ladies."

Connor flashed us a smile as I realized it was a Chick-fil-A bag and that he actually brought us good lunch to eat. I moved over on the bench making room for Connor to sit beside me. Amanda's eyes widened looking at the food before ripping open the bag to get her food.

"Thank the lord."

I smiled turning to Connor looking at him.

"What?"

"You're the best."

"I better be. Had to make a stop at Chick-fil-A before I came in today."

"Oh right, where were you all day?"

"I had to miss my morning classes to take Jaxon to the doctors office. My mom was too busy to."

Connor shrugged opening the bag to take out my portion of the food along with his.

"Oh. Well at least you got to miss class."

"Awe did someone miss having me in class?"

Nudging me in the shoulder, I took a bite of a fry rolling my eyes. He of course was hinting towards me missing him since we had so many classes together.

"No, I think I enjoyed the peace. I think all of our teachers did too."

I teased him as he chuckled. The whole time, Amanda just ate her food watching our exchange. After homecoming night, Connor and I have pretty much gone back to normal besides the fact that we 'flirt' more.

Amanda's observation not mine.

The two of us still haven't talked to each other about what almost happened between us. Kinda killing me since I've replayed the scene in my mind probably about a hundred times already.

"Hey, can I ask you something?"

Connor spoke while his eyes remained on my face.
Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Amanda's eyes widen when she overheard what he had just said. I kicked her under the table hoping no one noticed as she glared at me.

"Sure, what's up?"

"My mom's been wanting you to come over for dinner with us for a while now."

"Really?"

"She loves you. And plus, Jaxon really wants to see you again."

"When?"

"Tonight?"

"Sure, why not."
