CHAPTER 1

Ruby's P.O.V

I was walking with Annabelle to Highland park so we would be able to get tickets to the Mindy Maroon concert.

"Eeeeeee! Ruby, I'm so excited!" Annabelle squealed in my ear.
I hate when she does that. It's so annoying

" Can you not squeal in my ear. One day my eardrums will pop!" I yelled as I glared daggers at her.

She stared at me as if she couldn't understand what I just said.

"Geez. I was just excited." Annabelle said as she started to walk briskly. " Ruby! Walk quicker. I don't want to be late because of you!"

One day this girl is gonna kill me.

Annabelle and I continued to walk for a while
until we stopped at a long line of fans that were doing...vocal warmings?

"Uhhh, Anna this doesn't look like a line for a concert. Why are people doing vocal warmings? It's not like their gonna sing with Mindy Maroon..." I told Annabelle confused.
She smirked and her bright green eyes light up.

" I know that. Now, I don't want you to get mad but I signed us up for a competition to get a chance to become real musicians and go on tour with Mindy Maroon..."

Annabelle's P.O.V

I stared at Ruby wondering what was going through her mind. She stared down at me with a cold face. Her eyes narrowed at me. She was glaring.

" You did this and you didn't tell me?!"

" I-I uh, I can explain. We can sing and play instruments" A said with caution as I emphasized the and.

" We got a chance at this. These people may be good at singing but we're great. They're nothing compared-"

" Fine! We'll do it." Ruby said coldly as she crossed her arms. She opened her eyes, stared down at me, and continued, "And if we don't win, at least we tried." As Ruby said that, she started to smile and her pale blue eyes light up.

"Wait? You're serious?!"

Ruby nodded. "Yep. I'm serious."

I was so happy I jumped on Ruby and hugged her tightly.

" Ok. Can you let go now? I can barely breathe." Ruby told me bluntly.

" As you wish!" I exclaimed while grinning from ear to ear.

I grabbed her hand and ran to the line as Ruby ran behind me.

***Minutes later***

" Anna. I'm tired of standing in this line. What time is it?" Ruby said. She was leaning on the wall and staring at the sky with hooded eyes.
I looked at my iPhone and told her, "It's almost 5 o'clock..."

She let out a sigh of exhaustion.
I stared blankly at her wondering why she agreed to do this. Ruby wasn't really the type to agree with something like this so easily. Maybe she wanted her dream to come true as badly as I wanted mine to.

I leaned on the wall staring at the blank sky wondering how long we were going to stand here.
