My dad helped carry Joshua inside as the rest of us followed behind him.

Gray and I were at the back of the group. I was about to walk into my house when Gray pulled me back.

I looked at his darkened eyes, "What's wrong baby?"

He looked at me, his sky blue eyes taking on an even darker side of blue. I immediately felt bad for him and pulled him into my arms. I knew what was wrong. He couldn't face his dad and his mom at the same time.

"I can't face them." He said into my shoulder, where his head was resting. I rubbed his back. I felt the sadness radiating off of him like UV rays.

I pulled away from him, "Gray, you need to talk to them." He looked at the ground, "Or at least listen to them."

"Izzy--" He started but we got interrupted by his mom.

She looked at Gray and her blue eyes turned a shade darker, "Gray, honey, what's wrong?"

He smiled at her but it didn't reach his eyes, "Nothing Mom, I'm fine."

Cassie looked at me for confirmation, "Everything's fine Miss. Smith."

"Alright, Elizabeth. Don't stay too long, your mother is waiting for you." She looked at her son one more time than went back inside the house.

I turned to Gray, he looked at me then wrapped me in his arms. "I love you so much it hurts."

"I love you too," I said. He cupped my face in his hands then kissed me. He licked my bottom lip with the tip of his tongue.

My lips parted and he deepened the kiss.

Gray pulled away after a couple minutes, his breathing heavy, and his forehead resting on mine. I kept my eyes closed, trying to calm my erratic breathing and savoring the taste of his lips on mine.

Out of nowhere, Gray said, "Where do you think you're going?"

I opened my eyes and looked at Gray, who had his head turned to the side. I saw his father standing on the porch.

I turned back to Gray, "How did you--never mind." I said softly.

Joshua looked at us and gave us a sheepish smile, "Hey guys."

Just then my mom and Cassie came out. "Damn you Josh, can't you leave these two in peace?"

He looked at Cassie, "I wasn't trying to interrupt anything. The Assassins are looking for me and you know it."

"Joshua." My father said. He stood behind my mom, encircling her waist.

"How could you Bruce? How could you turn on all of us?!" Joshua's voice rose and my dad stepped in front of my mom, protecting her.

"I never agreed with the Assassins motives. You injured Mike. You went after my daughter!" My father's voice shook with anger. I moved away from Gray and stepped in between Josh and Bruce.

I shot Josh a glare, "What you should be asking..." I said, my voice surprisingly calm, "...is how you could leave behind your wife, who you swore to be with forever, and your son. He had to grow up without a parent because of you!"

"Elizabeth," Gray said softly behind me.

I looked at him, "No, Gray. I'm sorry but I can't stand by and say or do nothing anymore." I looked back at his dad, "He doesn't have a family. I am the closest thing he has ever had to family. Hell, Damien wasn't even there for the most part because he was too busy working for you. So, if anyone should be asking why someone did something, it should be us asking you how the hell you could let a group of killers come between you and your god damn family!" I pushed past everyone and went into my house. Zach, Hope, Damien, and Dante gave me a worried glance but I ignored them and went to my room.
