Bethany's POV

After talking to Harry for a bit, I decide to Iris Message Percy and ask about Luke. I would have sent an owl, but I had a feeling that this would be urgent.

I check the dormintory before walking into the bathroom and turning on the faucet.

"Oh Iris, goddess of the rainbow, please except my offering." I murmur. The water shimmers. "Show me Percy Jackson in Manhattan."

The living room comes into view, and I can suddenly see Percy sitting on the couch.

"Percy." I say to get his attention and he jumps.

"Oh! Bethany."

"Any news of Luke?" I ask.

He shakes his head. "Chiron says he was spotted by a satyr somewhere near my school."

I nod. "He was trying to get me to go there. Unfortunately for him, he doesn't know I'm on the other side of the world."

"He talked to you?" Percy asked.

"Oh! I forgot to tell you about the dream." I explain about the message. "I think he's trying to message me again, but the Hogwarts boundaries are holding any way for his messages.

"Any monsters attack you lately?" I ask.

Percy shrugs. "A couple. Fortunately, it wasn't at school. Mom thinks I might make it the entire year this time." He peers at me. "You?"

I laugh. "Hogwarts seems to have a barrier keeping them away." I frown. "But I have to admit, there's something odd going on here that isn't mythology related."

"At least it doesn't sound like you're going to be expelled anytime soon. I didn't last two months at my first school. Maybe it's just the teachers."

"I dunno." I say. "Snape seems to dislike me a bit, and I never did anything to him."

Percy laughs.

"Well, I've got to go. I guess I'll talk to you later bro!"

"Half bro." He corrects me. I laugh. "It's not my fault!" I tease back.

"Yeah, but technically only our dad is the same, not our moms."

"Shhh." I say, glancing around. "I made sure the dormintory was empty, but they could be back any time.

I go back into the dormitory and start working on my scrap booking again. If I'd payed attention, I would have seen someone silently close the door.

Selene's POVli

"Istamus Pecus." murmur, hoping my hunch would be the gap.

The words seem like they'd be the spell, but for some reason, whether I try altering the wand movements or the Latin words, there still is a gap that I can't seem to figure out.

I'd gone to the library to do some research about how to become an animagus, and nothing came up. Now I was starting to suspect that there was more to it than just the spell. Either that, or I wasn't as advanced at spell engineering yet, even though I've been studying for a long time.

"Selene!" Emily's voice frantically calls from behind me. "Hermione found something out about Bethany!"

This gets my attention, and I shove my stuff in my bag and race to the common room.

Hermione gives me a solemn look as we sit on the couch next to Harry and Ron.

"Okay, so what did you find?" I ask.

"I asked my parents if they could find some American newspapers from last summer when they went to fix some poor guys teeth. Bethany wasn't hard to find in the first few ones."

She tosses me a stack.

"At first, it says that she and her brother kidnapped her adoptive brothers mother and they were trekking across the country, blowing up national monuments. Then, in the last one I found, it explains that they'd been kidnapped and her brother, Percy, defeated their kidnapper in a gun showdown.

I cock my head to the side, taking this in.

"But I really don't think this is the actual story." Hermione adds. "Not after what I just heard."

Hermione explains that she'd gone up to the dorm to grab a book when she heard water running in the bathroom, and suddenly, it was like another person was in there. She'd glanced in to see Bethany talking to a sort of holographic image of her brother. Bethany mentioned names like Iris, Chiron, and Luke.

"What's your theory?" Emily asks as Harry and Ron look dumbfounded.

"Bethany said that Percy was her half brother by blood. They defeated their supposed kidnapper by the ocean. And I think we all know about her weird water obsession."

I chuckle, remembering how Bethany always took an extremely long bath first thing in the morning.

"And in Greek myths, it is said that Hercules father was Zeus, even though his mother was Mortal." Hermione continues.

"Hang on." Ron says. "You think that Bethany's father is Zeus, an actual god?"

"You nearly have it Ronald." Hermione says. "But I don't think it's Zeus. Remember? Bethany had to miss flying lessons, and I've never seen her near a broomstick. I think that Bethany is a child of Poseidon, the god of the sea."

"I guess I did warn you."

We whip our heads around to find Bethany standing at the base of the staircase.

"Why didn't you tell us?" Emily asks."

Bethany sighs. "You don't understand. In fact, I don't even think I understand completely. I only found out last summer when... Er-- a cow man chased me to camp.

"A cow man?" Ron laughs.

"I can't tell you what the cow man was, exactly." Bethany explains. "Names have power."

She gestures to all of us. "Let's go find somewhere private. I guess I have a lot of explaining to do."

I recover from the shock of the revelation. "You better." I tell her.
