Bethany’s POV

When Hermione handed me the study schedule, I groaned.

“Hermione!” I say. “I told you! I am horrible at things like that! I have to do things the practical way to remember!”

She just gave me a stern look. “How are you going to memorize the twelve uses of dragons blood the practical way?” I open my mouth, then close it again. She gives me another pointed look. “Exactly.”

She leaves me with the study schedule. I take one look at it, and groan.

She’d been nagging all of us about making these ever since we started keeping an eye on Quirell to keep Snape from getting the stone. We’d been telling people off for laughing at his stutter, smiling at him in the hallway, and I’d even stayed after class one day to talk to him. The conversation went somewhat like this:

      Quirell: M-m-miss R-r-rose! How c-can I-I help y-you?

Me: Just want to make sure you’re okay.

      Quirell: Y-y-yes. I-I’m f-f-f-f-fine.

It went a bit off topic after that.

The teachers gave me soo much work that Easter Holiday that I had no time whatsoever to begin to try and find out why I’d gone back in time. I’d gone through the first year exams back in the founders time, but the teachers in this time weren’t nearly as light with the homework. Emily was delighted, of course, with the large amount of homework to do; she apparently was starting to get a little bored and it gave her something to do. Selene was stressed out because more homework meant less time studying her wandlore, and that was what she was most worried about.

I did the best I could with my homework, but I flat out refused to study after I saw the book. It was enormous, and even with Selene’s translation spells, the size of the letters made my eyes water. I now understood why Percy was so stressed in the letters he kept sending me with complaints about dozens of tests and Sally making him study for them.

The one thing that the amount of work gave me was a distraction from what I was worried about. At least it masked it a little, but I often caught myself staring at my wrist as it would start glowing at any moment.

Hermione found me in the dorm one day, and I winced, worried that she’d start nagging me for not studying.

“Hagrid’s up to something.” She said.

I give a sigh of relief and ask “What did you find?”

She goes into one of her rambling modes, and I can tell she’s quite serious by then. “I was studying with Harry and Ron in the library when we bumped into him. He was looking at books for dragons.”

I think for a moment. “I say we go down and visit him.” I resolve. “We can figure out what’s going on with this, and maybe we can even get a bit of information on what’s guarding the sorcerer’s stone.”

Hermione beams at me. “That’s what I was going to suggest!”

I sigh. “Let’s go get the others. Might as well do it now.”

Her smile turns into a frown. “But... We need to—“

“Hermione, you know that I’m ADHD. If I don’t do something soon, I’m going to explode.”

“Alright.” She agrees hesitantly. “You get Emily and Selene. I’ll get the boys.”
