Excitement bubbled within you as you thought about what today was. You had finally convinced Python to give you archery lessons, and after a week of your pleading, he eventually gave up and agreed. You sprinted down the hill to the forest they were practicing in. You skidded to a halt in front of the blue-haired archer. "I'm ready to begin!" You said confidently, trying to conceal your enthusiastic smile.
"Clam down, it's not like we're learning anything absolutely thrilling today," Python replied curtly, showing no trace of remote vigor.
"What do you mean?" You asked confusedly.
"Well we have to learn the basics first," Python replied. "You didn't think we were skipping right to shooting?" Python said in amusement after his eye caught your disappointed gaze.
"I had just assumed- I mean I thought-" You stuttered, shuffling your feet in embarrassment.
"Easy, kid. I brought my armor for you to try and get used to, though it might be too big," Python replied, leaning down to pick up a few parts of the armor. Though he usually spoke in a brazen tone, you found something soothing about his voice. He handed you a big silver plate. "This is a chest-guard, it's there so the string of the bow doesn't catch on your clothes," He explained. You nod as he helps you put it on, blushing as his hand brushes your shoulder. He then fastened metal cuffs to your arms. "And these are arm-guards, they're there for obvious reasons." You listened the entire time, but your gaze was always fixed on him.
"You did good today, tomorrow we can practice shooting," Python informed, "Though it is getting late so you should probably head to bed." As he walked past you, he places his hand on your shoulder and gave you at least what you thought was a smile. But it was only brief as he began to leave again. You quickly grab his hand, not knowing what to do next. He glanced at you in surprise. "What is it, Y\N?"
"I just want to thank you for teaching me, and I look forward to our lessons in the future," you reply, wishing you had the courage to say more.
"Heh, no problem kid," Python said before taking off. You gazed after him until he disappeared, but then headed to your own bed.
~Time Skip~
"Good morning, kid. Ready to practice shooting?" Python asked, swinging his bow into his hand. You nod, picking up your wooden practice bow. You try your best to copy his positioning, but it was harder than you had expected. He scoffed as you completely missed your target.
"I'm sorry, my positioning isn't the best," you apologize, looking downcast. You lift your bow up to try again and you nearly jump out of your skin as he grabbed both of your hand in his. He centered your bow perfectly before stepping back. You draw the string, and released. You cheered as you hit your target perfectly.
"Hey, Y/N, don't get too excited. You had help on that one," Python warned, but to your surprise, you saw a hint of pride in his gaze.
~Time Skip Again~
After months of training, you were nearly as good, maybe better, than Python, much to his dislike. But today, you met as always in the forest.
"I'm ready for my lesson, Python!" you greeted as you always did, a big smile on your face.
"Y/N, I don't think it's necessary to carry on our lessons. You've become so good there isn't much more to learn," Python replied, his hands shaking.
"But I enjoy our lessons! I like spending time with you!" You replied in shock, your heart sinking.
"Well actually was hoping we could spend more time together, but doing something other than training. I mean, why don't we enjoy ourselves instead of preparing for war?" Python explained. You were surprised he was capable of such feelings.
"What do you mean?" You asked, not quite understanding. He sighed.
"Ugh, kid you're making this more difficult than it should be. What don't you understand? I love you, I mean I think that's what I feel," Python replied, scratching his head.
"Python, do you really think it's the right time? We'd distract each other and we can't afford to lose," you said.
"And maybe war isn't the right time. But think about it, and besides, Mathilda and Clive do it just fine," Python reasoned. You hadn't seen him actually take a conversation seriously, or look this happy.
"We could give it a shot, just make sure it doesn't interfere with your performance," you warned. but you couldn't help but crack a smile. Python nodded.
"Don't worry, it won't. Hehe, Forsyth won't be to happy with you when he finds out that I won't be spending as much time with him as I used to," Python mused, clicking his tongue. "But that's too bad for him."
"I imagine Lukas should be upset too," you said, giggling. Python shook his head.
"Nah, he's too busy babysitting Alm and the rest of his rag-tag team," Python responded. And for once, he seemed genuinely happy. The both of you sat there together, without any worries of the future.
A/N: I'm so sorry he seemed so out of character, he's a pretty hard character to write. Next should be Lukas X Reader which should be published today or tomorrow. Ta ta ^^
